Asking for advice on ways to monetize my website

Hello, i joined this fantastic site earlier last year and i have learnt quite a lot in that time. I've tried a couple of ventures which have been a bit of a struggle but recently i have come up with a way to attract targeted traffic to a niche website which i will make shortly. I was just wondering if anyone would be able to advise me on some good ways to monetize said traffic. I'll give a description of my initial plan below. It sounds good to me in theory, but understand i am still new to this game and i am always looking to learn from those with experience & suggestions.

My plan is this: I'm going to create a niche website offering something that is in high demand for those invested in the niche, which happens to be free. I have a marketing method in place which will get my website in front of the eyes of targeted people so i predict the traffic in question will be keen to go through the steps needed to acquire what i'm offering, especially as it won't cost them money.

Because of this i thought what i believe to be called a "Content Locker" to be a good idea (forgive me if that's not the official term). Essentially forcing the individual wanting to access the specific content of my site to complete a survey or something along those lines before they can get access to it. Once they complete the survey or something similar they can access the page they want, which i also intend on hosting a couple of relevant ad's on, perhaps a clickbank offer too. Also to access this page they'll have to provide me with their email, allowing me to market relevant offers to them in the future. It's essentially a three stage marketing plan. (Survey to access content - Ad's on page with content - Email marketing afterwards)

My question is, in your view is this a good strategy? And if so how do i go about obtaining a "Content Locker"? I'm a member of a CPA network already, but i don't see any campaigns offering what i'm suggesting. Are there networks out there that offer such a thing? Ideally it wouldn't even be a survey. I'd much prefer to have a niche related one page email submit instead isn't as it wouldn't be so time consuming, though i'm not sure they exist as the only content lockers i've personally experienced are annoying surveys. In theory it sounds like it would put off a lot of people, but what i will offer is in high demand, free of charge and relevant to the traffics interests so i can see the conversion rate being quite high.

If anyone could give me some advice on my method, how to obtain a content locker or simply suggest a tweak to my method then i would i'd be extremely grateful. Thanks.

In wordpress there are some pluggins for content lockers. There are a lot other cpa's networks with other offers.

Do survays and bank , you can add your own or make your own content locker If you want it.

Just a little advice.

If the user got to give you there email do it in a sly way (( so there not board)), example , please add your email to start the survay ,
Or end of survey add a page that says , please add your email to receve the free product/ item.

Remember in the legal notes, mention that the user who adds a email , will be added to your mailing list ,for future

I don't think content locker is a good thing, as usually most content lockers associated with bad ads/scam etc.
You don't have to give all info for free, you may ask to provide email/subscribe in return to access info.
But the best solution, especially if your content has high value and unique is just to give it for free and but monetize all the traffic with ads and offers. Probably doing simple traffic arbitrage without pushing to much offers would be better option.

So let say he wants to push the traffic to another provider to earn cash what are the best traffic providers to use .......

If the volume of traffic is big then I think you will make more money with native advertising networks, just how @se900se stated. some kind of traffic arbitrage but difference is that you don't buy the upcoming traffic, and in this why you gain some important trust from your visitors, and when a visitor have trust in you then he will share with others what do you offer free but important to them.

Thank you for sharing those links, i'm really grateful for your help. When you say i can make my own content locker, do you mean i can take a relevant offer from a network, for example a one page submit and turn it into a content locker myself?
I'll check out ogads, in fact i'll try and join multiple networks to open up my options. Also big thanks for the advice regarding emails

What i plan to provide is a digital based, free service which happens to be in demand. It would be great to charge, but it's not possible. Though because of this it means traffic will be high, as well as potential conversion. That is why i like the idea of a content locker, forcing the individual to complete an action which gives me revenue. I just like the idea of somewhat guaranteed revenue, opposed to relying of people visiting my web page clicking on an ad. Don't get me wrong i want to do that too, but it would feel out of my hands to rely on this. If i can find a relevant offer, ideally a one page email submit and use it to lock my content, i can see it being quite successful. Though like i said, i'm currently keeping my options open.

Native advertising isn't something i have much knowledge about, though that can be easily obtained on this forum. I'll certainly check it out. In regards to my site it isn't a site that would produce much content. An equivalent kind of set up would be a site that has a home page and a sales page. The sales page being what i was thinking of locking.

Personally i find content lockers don't work well with sites. Sites with content lockers tend to be associated with scam and virus so your bounce rate may be very high. Also, since you are collecting emails from prospective visitors that is a good enough method of marketing. The only way i would find content lockers more successful is if you really have some awesome clickbait. IE. a fake news article with a captivating headline that would only be unlocked unless the visitor shares it etc.

With content locker, i would say you get more exposure, but the percentage that actually converts is gonna be very minimal.

Pay per view ad's sound good, though i imagine the rates of pay per view ad's are rather low. Could you give me a rough estimate of the average rate? I suppose if i was to generate a decent amount of traffic then i could earn a good income via this method, though as you suggested mixing different type of ad's together would maximize potential. The more i think about a content locker the more i start to disagree with the idea. It may look unprofessional. Unless i found a way to make it look legitimate of course.

Yes there may be a drop in conversions, though it's my understanding that one page submits generate more revenue, per conversion. If i generated a large amount of traffic then i can see it being successful in terms of revenue. I suppose it's deciding do i sacrifice the professional look of my website in search of high revenue conversions, which in turn may have a lower conversion rate or do i appear more legitimate with lower revenue generating per conversion ad's, which may have a higher conversion? I'm edging towards the latter option. Though as of yet i haven't come across anything that can stop me from A/B testing, i can always experiment to see which works better. What i don't want to do is become a victim of paralysis by analysis, and instead take action, which i've struggled with in the past due to overthinking. At the end of the day i won't know until i try.
