Looks like the Google Dance is more active then ever.
You're absolutely right, some of my keywords are still dancing + - 30 points every day.

I'd imagine it would take another month for things to settle down before one can come up to a conclusion what causes it.
To me, one thing is for sure, this update(s) is not finished yet.

This is getting beyond ridiculous. I hope people understand that Barry Schwartz is extrapolating a lot of nonsense from Gary Illyes' tweets. There never was a single official 'Fred' update. If you read Gary's original tweet a few weeks ago, when pressed for information regarding the huge changes in the SERPs in March, he originally said he was not aware of any specific update, followed by the statement in jest that he will refer to every future update as Fred.

The humour was obviously lost on our village idiot Barry and he somehow took it to mean that there was a single update called Fred. Now we have everyone referring to this update as Fred, when the recent tweets by Gary do nothing but confirm that there were multiple updates during this period (as there are nearly every month) and none of them have official titles. He is basically saying they will not be announcing updates a la Penguin/Panda as they have in the past. Fred is just a tongue-in-cheek placeholder name for all future tweaks/updates to the algorithm.

Exactly!
This guy likes to twist the original meanings of the tweets just to create commotion for his own channel.

When Gary says: "There are updates every day."
Barry will interpret it as "Google ADMITS FRED update yesterday." -->see proof

What kind of bullsh!t is that.
Worse than grandmother's market gossips.

People creating (automated) backlinks in March can you please check if they get indexed? Do you use an indexer or let them index manually?

Looks like all Gary, Barry, Matt don't know what's going on.... AI has taken over GI.
Big G's most hyped automation Sucks

That chart shows SERPs oscillating between 80 and 40....I mean....it doesn't matter if you're on 80th or 40th place, that might as well just be Google's confusing you.

If you were going from #1 to 20 and back, that'd be surprising. Beyond page 2 is where you hide dead bodies and stuff, nobody ever gets there.

If google can't figure out (for almost a month) if it belongs on 40 or 80 than it sucks big time.
Some keywords from 1st page are stable and some are still dancing. Although not as much as the other one :) That example was to show that the 'thing' isn't settled yet.

They can figure it out ;)

They make $ from this. They throttle traffic to sites. They re-rank sites all the time, 24x7. When you're in positions 40 to 80 you're in the turf mate, the waves there will shake you. If you want your site safely out of this region you need to improve your SEO and keep out of those lower positions.

You can oscillate from 80 to 200 and back, those back pages are basically a big void. I ignore anything over page 2, it's simply noise.

You don't need to school me ;) what it means to be on 2nd or 40 or 80 I know that. Besides that, you've missed the point.

My main point is anything beyond position 20 or 30 will jump around all the time anyway. That's where new sites appear, banned sites disappear, experiments happen and so on. That's my whole point. No intention in schooling you or preaching.

People are too concerned on these "Fred" update threads and I said in all of them "don't do anything". 90% of those simply recovered without doing anything. Whereas there were people disavowing links and doing acrobatic stuff during updates.

I'm sorry to say but you're making stupid assumptions. As simple as that. I've been doing it for a few years, know how it looks like to be on 1st, 2nd and on 40th and 80th position and how ranking behave when they don't do updates. (and BTY my website is not new) As for your 'don't do anything' advice, it might work for some people and it will not work for others. And again you're making an assumption which is not 100% true.

Yes. I guess you got the situation covered then. Wuz just trying to help.

The dance hasn't stopped since March 8-9th. Top 10 to out of top 100 and more of the same.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that came to the same conclusion. Either, they are tweaking 'fred' or they've released something new in the beginning of April.

My website has dropped from rank #1-3 in every keyword to not in top 200 for all but one, hopefully this resolves soon.

I've read your other post. In my case, the volatility isn't as severe as yours. But noticeable. I just wish that the sh#$ whatever they call it would settle down so when I make adjustments I can see what works and what does not.

I've noticed dramatic shifting in the past 24 hours with my website! Any one else experience the same thing?

I haven't noticed any dancing sadly, but maybe I will in the next few days :). You are lucky OP :D.
