For a while now my website has been ranking at position 1-3 for multiple keywords. Last night, about 10~ hours ago everything dropped to 'not found in the first 200' for all main keywords except for one.

Is this a google dance or is there something going on?

It could be. It could be the algorithm update which has made quite a few scratch their heads in confusion.

I work with a range of websites and have seen mixed results. However, one note that I've picked up on, is websites that have links from PBN's and predominantly only PBN's (it difficult not to pick up automated directory links these days) have typically seen the largest decreases, whilst profiles with a mix of established links have largely remained the same. But then again, have been noticing some improvements over the last few days, certainly not back to original levels, but improvements none-the-less.

I am considering in adding additional no-follow links / mixture links to the PBN to help increase the number of OBL's and/or removing the PBN link all together to test. As always, takes time...

Seems they are tweaking FRED, some of the pages I haven't adjusted yet got hit. Well, they others are doing fine.

Well to make a better site. But the quick fix is to remove your keywords from the meta data and get you keyword density in 0,6 - 0,8 range, if it's a long article not more than 6,7 times. They are going for over optimization.

unfortunately it is German, so I give you the gist or you might use an online translator. Bottom line, people who got hit by panda, got again hit by fred. Most people hit, have thin content, ad heavy sites, with overoptimized kw densities and internal linking.

It sounds more than just a dance to drop out of top 200 for all your keywords.

Nope none, I had about 3k~ users actively online at one given time on sat/sun. Numbers dropped a bit yesterday but still haven't done anything crazy. Also my competitors have all dropped the same way

I think google is updating the algorithm. Usually the keywords will return in 2-3 days later

Do not panic just yet, keep an eye while getting feedback on what you could potentially do should your site fails to recover.

Highly recommended to do nothing unless it gets settles. At least wait for 3 more days & analyse your site what the major change you have done in the past two weeks and check whether have you lost any backlinks?

All you can do for now is sit tight, see if it all comes back naturally. Those type of movement are more like a roller-coaster ride than a dance

Just wait for few more days. Check out the On-page factors, Check your backlink profile, if you loose any quality backlinks this kind of drops will happen.
