Whats the best keyword difficulty tool?

Been using KWfinder's free look-up, and like it quite a bit. Not sure about how accurate it is. Suggestions on a difficulty tool other than the built-in Ahrefs one?

Probably not the answer you want, but I suggest taking the manual approach. Nothing comes close to checking the first page yourself, seeing what domains rank, what their content consists of and what kind of links they have. To this day, I haven't used any keyword research or keyword difficulty tool simply because I think they don't give accurate information.

Well, you're right. But, let's assume you have gathered 10,000 potential keywords with either enough volume or a high enough CPC that they could potentially be great targets. Ain't nobody got time to go through that. I'm looking for a tool to cut a large list in 1/10 and give me some useful data on the difficulty when I go to manually look.

I take a different approach. I don't gather such a large list of keywords. Chances are, a good chunk of them refers to the same keyword. I narrow down my list based on search volume and then go from there. Anyway, I couldn't be of help as I don't use any tool.

I do the same. Keywords with a higher search volume (especially buyer intent keywords) have a very high chance of being difficult to rank. So I usually go after terms with medium to low search volume. Those with really low search volume are eliminated as well.

Will I miss out on some keywords, of course. But you will miss out on plenty with a keyword tool as well, and STILL have to manually research the narrowed down list.

Now if you have a large authority site and a large budget, you would probably go about things differently.

As earlier suggested, a manual look up is 100% better than any difficulty indicator number a tool can provide, but apart from kwfinder, keysearch.co is something we use regularly combined with SEMRush ( not all the time accurate ).

Ahrefs is not very accurate when it comes to Keyword Research. I wouldn't recommend anyone relying on their data for keyword research.

Moz has small database with links compared to majestic or ahrefs....

In my opinion ahrefs in terms of KW Reaearch is very off. KWFinder any day.

i dislike kw finder bc often times in the left sidebar they will display low kw difficulty scores, but then when you click on them to analyze, the score bloats to much higher. this is frustrating bc when you filter with a max score of 20 for kw difficulty, nearly all teh scores are higher. so the filter is limited

i recently switched to kw revealer, though some of their scores seem low
which is why you need to manually check after the fact

semrush's kw difficulty seems to be pretty random and unreliable

i find their tool to be the absolute worst
the scores dont make much sense

at least w kwfiner or kwrevelear there is some logic
but semrush seems so random

ive seen some easy kw's with scores of like 88
and some hard ones which are in the 60s
and they have no scores below 50's, which is strange

I find keywordfinder a dream well made and i agree with u well said.

but i actually prefer kw revealer
kw finder has too many inaccurate scores when you view keywords on the left side of the page, bc when you click analyze, the score jumps up
