changed usernames, engagement dead

so basically i had some accounts and i was having like 1% engagement and sometimes it goes up to 2-3%

i know, it sucks.. anyways now its worse then that, i changed the username and names, and without tags i get maybe 0.3% likes.. how to fix this pls?

i have 5 accounts, with over 140k followers between them.

i grew them in like 10-11months, using follow/unfollow only.. i never ike other peoples stuff automatically, only like things i really like, i post 2-6 times a day

personally at this point, i would mhuch rather focus on engagement rather than growth

hmm, because i used to post like that before aswell.. and i would get 250-500 likes on average per post on a 35k follower acc

I'm not into that IG stuff that much, and I know that you guys change usernames etc. but why you do that?

Imagine now situation like this. You are following let's say hotbabe69 and you like her posts and stuff, so if I've got it right, hotbabe69 just changed her username to grandmacookie and, yet now, will you still be looking eye glowing on what grandmacookie has just posted or would you be waiting on hotbabe69?

If I'm missing the point here, just correct me if I'm wrong please.

yeah you're right.. i mean i changed my usernames, to make them country based.. so that the people of the country will follow me and i could sell them sh!t lol

i will, i am desperate for anything now lol.. i might also stop follow/unfollow for now, and just auto like photos to see what happens

Probably cause some might not be familiar with your new name.

Your username is your whole brand, it's how your followers recognize you. If I was following an account that had a new username, I'd be asking "wtf, how did I end up following these people?" and probably unfollowing.

Switch them both back to the originals before your engagement gets even worse.

This is why niche/username changes are pretty big no-nos.

Your name/theme is very important, otherwise people won't recognize you and with another username mentions will be broken.
