Blog Commenting (Whitehat) - still worth it?

In your experience, does whitehat blog commenting still work?

By this I mean:
1. Using Scrapebox to find blogs relating to the link you wish to add
2. Reading the blog post, understanding it, and then making a post that you feel will help the people reading that post and the link you add to your site will actually add value to the post and the people reading it.

Has anybody been doing this and have recent experience?

I'm not talking about blasting comments, but actually writing comments that will be informative.

Think like that, Google can't ignore blog comments as not anyone is doing it for Seo purposes, there are REAL people out there that are truly interested in whatever a blog has to say..so yes,...is worthing!

Then, you're someone who is pretty good at outreach, I can say. Most of the marketers still copy paste the brian dean templates and expect tons of links in return. A blogger can sniff this very quickly, thanks to all idiots out there.

I know how to write in a way that looks natural - mainly because I try and understand the content and then ask a question back, or pass a link off as informative.

Example:
"It says in the above post that the fastest land animal is X, but I've recently read at: [insert link] that it's Y animal, so I'm not sure which to believe. Any thoughts?"

or

"I agree with the bit where you say [include the bit they've written], however, I read at [link] that [something that perhaps disagrees with the bit they put]. What do you think?"

This shows that I've read the content and I'm also creating conversation, whilst adding a link to simply backup what I've just read. It can make the blog author reply with their thoughts and agree/disagree with the link I've added, whilst still keeping the link there.

Blog Commenting is still worth. It will bring good traffic and links, which will increase traffic and reduces Alexa Ranking.
The main thing you have to follow is doing commenting naturally and your blog should contain some more useful information than the article you commenting.

Are there any do-follow commenting on blogs that aren't spammed to hell by now? Any reliable way to find them? Or are you commenting regardless?

Thanks. I'll use Scrapebox to find the blogs initially. Then manually check them out and read them.

So scrapebox does the initial work of finding the massive list of blogs, but ultimately, it's me who manually goes through, reads them and then comments if appropriate.

I'm in it for the long game. I have an authority site which I want to still be here in 20 years time. Personally, I think any shortcut strategy has a short time span. We can all trick the search engines in the near future, but they'll catch on and punish sites eventually.

I of course have other things running which I use social media for. But I like to think long term as well. Putting the work in manually now I hope will reap the rewards even years down the line.

well, for me, I rather spend my time on other things than manual blog comments on OBL5000 sites, or this disqus shit. but, that is everyone selse thing.
that's why I test a ton. so see what I like.

I like to mix it up and try and do everything - just a shame there aren't more hours in the day! :-D

Expired domains I've never tried, but I can imagine they can do well. I imagine that then transgresses into blogs that link to your main site? This is something else I think Google will catch onto eventually, but of course short term gain can be worth it.

We have affiliates who consistently make $300-$800 daily from blog commenting alone (promoting CB products), so yes it definitely still is a relevant method in 2017!

I think this is still worth. But most of the blogs now have nofollow links on the comment section. It might not help building your backlinks, but you are exposing your site to other readers.

I never use blog commenting to build links but I do comment on relevant blogs to send referral traffic to my site
