Keyword B:

Ahrefs: 11 K

Keyword C:

Keyword Planner: 100K - 1M
Ahrefs: 51K (diff 5)
KWFinder: 370K (diff 25)

For most of the keywords, Ahrefs is not even within Google's own Keyword Planner's range. How can they be so off and does this mean Ahrefs keyword tool is completely misleading?

Also how on earth can Ahrefs track clicks per search?

do not rely on just one keyword tool. Which you are doing and is good. I don't trust any of these keyword tool completely. I rely on lower range from keyplanner and traffic data on websites ranking for that keyword. I don't know why the f*** google does this shit. Remove keyword data and let webmasters keep running here and there about such issues. Like SEOers are going to stop feeding them crap content. Their mess will keep on increasing.

ahrefs shows only country specific volumes, while keyword planner can be set for global results. I believe this is what is causing confusion to you.

And to be honest all these keyword tools fetch data from keyword planner, how in the hell anyone else apart from google could know exact search volumes?

Ahrefs and Moz use clickstream data from companies like jumpshot combined with cached keyword planner data to get their search volumes since Google is tightening more and more on showing true search volume data. My tool and KWfinder pull search volume directly from keyword planner. It's tough to say which is more accurate. Google has been known to be completely off when it comes to certain search volume figures but Ahrefs and Moz are really just making a "guess" off of a bunch of data.

I use Dans Keysearch and also Keyword Revealer, then check using Ahrefs, Moz and Semrush.
The results are varied but you get a feel if a kw is worth going after.

Why would you believe Ahrefs before Google? Unfortunately for everyone, Google is the only official source for checking keywords' volumes. Every other tool is getting the data from Google via the Adwords API. I don't know what Ahrefs is doing though and I don't care, I only use Keyword Planner to check the monthly searches for each keyword I target and you should too!

I use Ahrefs and Moz.
Ahrefs scans around 8 billion pages a day, only less than Google. Their system is good for back linking analysis, however they are improving on the content and keyword part.
So, you should authenticate with more than one tools for exact keyword data.

You can use keyword revealer to find search volume and difficulty.

Even though you need to do some manual research to confirm the keyword is low competitive.

I have been using Ahrefs and MOZ for a long time now, it helps to pick the right keywords to rank and build content for.

I use a mix of
serplab (most accurate)
kwfinder (90% accurate)
ahrefs (kind of OK)
