How to recover from recent Google update?

1) I have not any tag duplicate issues.
2) I have checked my site using site:mysite .com structure and found that all my posts/pages were index only. There are not any extra duplicate content like pagination index etc.
3) I have more than 180+ posts. All posts more than 1200 words. No option for thin content plenty.
4) It is amazon affiliate site and all links are no-follow. I have 5-7 links per posts(1200 words). I tried to reduce link density with a few posts but no effect at all.
5) I have backlinks from various forum and comments only. I am not a big fan of backlinks so i tried to concentrate only content.
6) It authority type Website and age more than 8 month. I am using Newspaper theme here.
7) Today, I am observing bing and yahoo giving me more visitors than google.
8) I worked as web developing field. Now, I totally move to internet marketing. So, I guess I have enough experience about on-page, off-page seo. (I had a successful website and I have sold that quiet big amount).

Now, I don't understanding what should do now. Please share your experience what should do now!
Sit and wait few days more(It already over more than 10 days)? I will be grateful if you share your personal experience how to recover from this awful update?
It is very hard to hide my frustration.

1. Remove all the affiliate link as Contextual and place them as a button
2. Add 2-3 paragraphs to each post and Change the published date
3. Submit sitemap again and fetch as google
4. Make sure that you don't have duplicate keywords ( same keyword used in different posts )
5. Now Look on to backlinks - Collect all the low quality backlinks and disavow them
6. If all links are from natural ways then , No need to worry
7. Send Some social signals to the site and update with quality content continuously for 1-2 months

Yes, definitely follow those step if i unable to figure out the problem. I am thinking to wait this month.

Previously, I was thinking to avoid blackhat like pbn but now thinking i should go for it. Google is a robot and they cannot determine honesty and dishonesty work. So, i should go for it.

Yeah, no kidding! How are people supposed to know what they did wrong if they are not told? How are we supposed to improve our sites if we aren't told? Even if you try to follow the "rules" you can still get burned.

Yes, definitely! If Google tell us what was our fault then we will update website considering their guidelines.
If innocent website hit this kind awful update then definitely their have problem with their algorithm. But who cares? Google? I guess they never!

The key to recovering from recent Google update is to understand what caused it. Once you identify the reason for your ranking droppings, you have to remove the backlinks that led to your rankings drop and disavow the ones you cannot remove. And, add some fresh, unique articles to your site.

Not all natural links are great, so get the low quality ones removed especially blog comments and forum links form bulk of your backlinks. Or else send high quality links to your site in addition to the ones you already have.

how you will determine low quality links? I mean what is the measurement criteria?

If the link quality can be determined by using some of the following factors:

-The links are how relevant to your website

-The links are coming from high authority site (like .edu and .gov sites, Wikipedia,etc.)

-How much organic traffic comes to your website.

low quality link is come from low quality site.
low quality site like so much outbound link (PBN, guest post, blog comment) and low quality content (spinned content)

I have same problem like you belive me i am very frustrated too, but i suggest you to wait some time and dont do anything because nobody here have 100% sure proof what is behind rank drop all speculations. You can try some things that people advice and make all worse, so better wait.. keywords and positions could return overnight you dont know. Do not remove backlinks forums and comments are ok if they are relevant..and you will find hundreds thousands of sites ranking with spam, garbage content, low amount of links, SAPE, hacked sites and what not.. so you cant tell its just because of backlinks to drop.

Remove all bad links pointing you. It will help. And add new content using KW strongly popular on recent trends. You can sell milk and the premium word is Kardashian butt. Premium KW are part of new Google updates.

Stop listening to all the crap being advised in this thread, no one knows how and most importantly why your site got hit. I've been hit in the past as well and 8 times out of 10, it had nothing to do with links. The problem for me (and most likely for you as well) was keyword density and anchor percentages. Audit each page on your site and answer the following questions:

1) How much is my keyword density for the targeted keyword(s)? Both the exact match keyword, word combos of the keyword and each word separately as well..
2) Am I putting the exact keyword in all of these highly optimized areas? Title, H1, URL, Description, Alt tag being the most important ones.
3) Are you using WP? If yes, is your template injecting your keywords in your pages without you realizing? You can discover this by implementing step 1.

4) How are you interlinking between your articles? With exact anchors? Or better say, what's the anchor % distribution in your internal links? Are you overdoing it?
5) Do you have cannibalizing pages on your site? If yes, identify them and remove them. They only cause issues and do no good at all.
6) Do you have any duplicate content in your site? Categories? Tags? You mentioned your tags are fine, what about categories, how are they set up? I recommend removing tags completely or at least noindex/follow them.
7) What's the anchor % distribution on your incoming links (backlinks) to the site?

After you fix your website internally, wait for Google to re-index your site. Then wait another week or so for it to refresh your rankings. If nothing happens, go back to fixing your site. If you are 100% sure your site is the best it can be, move on to troubleshooting your links.
