Expired domain with traffic

I was out of IM scene for quite a long time. 4-5 years back it was quite useful to get expired domain with reasonable traffic and build a website onto it. With all those changes over the time it would be nice to know is it still a good strategy and gives you an advantage or there is no need to put all the effort in finding expired domains.

You could check godaddy auctions, there's some information about traffic, you can filter it.

Search for expired domains on youtube - videos with milions of views often have expired domains in descriptions, you will get traffic for sure. Use scrapebox link extractor to search for domains from first top 20 results for your specific keyword (with highest traffic):

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=your+keyword3

Then check for 404 domains and find expired ones

My question was not "how to find expired domains" but rather is it still a good strategy. Would it be a good idea to find some niche domain with some reasonable traffic and build a site on it.

Ya being doing it but many people say that the numbers are usually not real but ya I guess that would be the easiest way to go about it.
