I don't know if it's a penalty but I really doubt it.

My keywords that I'm trying to rank were first #8 then they went #12 and nowhere.

While some of my keywords that were ranking to 1st and didn't build any backlink they didn't move?

Is the fault of backlinks?

I am sure you could improve your SEO, if you would waste less time on asking questions and more on searching for answers. Incidentally this is what google is for and brings you traffic.

If you are using any PBN links then check those sites if they are still indexed or not.

Hi,
I think you can not just assume its your backlinks. One would assume that you understand your own backlink profile and you would know if there is something in there that is likely to have taken a hit.
People are too quick to blame their backlinks in general. They do not understand that on page seo (including the content and the cms behind the site) can equally kill your rankings if not approached correctly. I believe there is a far more technical aspect to seo these days.

As for backlinks many principals are overlooked when small drops in ranks occur. For example you can place a link on a decent website, at the time you placed it you where the only person with a link on it (be it contextual or banner link) - then 3 months later all the useless seo companies trawl your high ranking sites backlink profile and troll away the links your brains have found. So a couple of months later on there are now another 6 outbound links on the site, diluting the power of your original site.........

Really you have any evidence of that, i have sites with little content and a vew strong backlinks and they are still doing fine (for years), you know nothing at all unless you have some proof that can support your ridiculous claim.

people have been saying content is important since first panda update. Every new update - content is important lol. I have seen so many niches where you don't have content because the visitor needs images, videos etc. What about that? Content means data displayed to visitor. Anything but blank page. backlinks might have lost little importance and visitor behaviour matters maybe more but still backlinks have been working for like ages now.

I have a large amount of proof indeed. I have recovered more websites than most I can assure you. Dodgy seo work by various persons. If you are ranking for high comp keywords, you need to have more than just your link profile in order for sure. Maybe you are happy with result 5, my clients wants and get result 1. I have over 600 sites in the top 3 of various versions of Google, including all manner of multi-language sites. Trust me I know what I am saying is proven to be a positive thing. Thanks

agree that content > backlinks, google always updated their algorithm to improve quality serp result, so care about your content and seo on page and do white hat seo off page

For the record I was not speaking about just content, I was talking about badly configured cms that kill the link flow or even the miss use of robot meta... I am saying there are many things that CAN fuck your rankings besides links

Utter nonsense, you really don't need much more then good backlinks, besides the basics as a fast loading website, a trusted domain, basic onpage SEO, good interlinking and you can rank 300 words for high level keywords, no problem...

Please stop misinforming people on BHW and stop pretending you're a some kind of an SEO specialist in the hope people will PM you for work...

One can easily go on to ask how long your results stand, how many sites you have killed anduring how much better your results may be if you actually listen to people instead of being stuck in the dark ages.

Adultstyle, How can you just join the community today and start bragging like that. Ranking is not an exact science and no one has guaranty of ranking forever. This is respectable community, We are looking for members wisdom not to engage into nonsense argument. Please share your expertise with us, this is what this forum is about. For instance you can start a new thread on where to get backlink, methods to make money kickly, How to get on page 1 of G etc...
