Apps are a fair way to earn money. If you come up with something people like, you can make good money. You won't get rich, but it's a long term payback. As example: Develop for maybe 6 months and it'll pull in money for maybe 2 years. But you need to get lots of users if you want to earn thousands a month.

Don't be crazy, flappy bird was a one in a billion app that caught craze. There's millions of apps made every month.

how much can you make on ppc ads? youtube? blogging? etc? anywhere from zero a million dollars. silly question you'll never get a solid answer. all depends on your level success, amount of effort, and little bit of luck.

freelance android devs bill around $99/hr. you can bill more or less depending on technical ability and sales skills.
for making your own apps, sky is the limit like any other business. there have been few method-type threads shared here where users making few hundred a day by making apps and ranking them on the play store.
