Making templates/themes to get backlinks

This is what my competition is doing..

So the sad thing is that I dont know any php.. yet I have to make some wp templates so that I can submit em and get me some backlinks.

im sure most of you here are already doing this...

Can you please tell me if there is some site that help me in making WP templates.. something like easily editable templates open and permission already given for editing.. or better still if there is some tool for that?

or any help that would get me started.

Please dont give me a link to w3schools to learn php cause that aint happening. I ve tried and i cant learn it

Why create a template if you can just use web 2.0 to build a bunch of free blogs real fast... wordpress, weebly, xanga, etc... save yourself the headache.

Many reasons, but the main is if people were to download these templates and use them on their blog, most will try promote their blog, therefore over time, you'll get a nice home page link (although it's in the footer, but let's not go into that). A nice theme gets way over 100 downloads on average, so it's not a bad method for a small amount of work. Seconds diversity is important in link building campaigns. Also if you build a genre related theme, your also more likely to get relevant backlinks.

Building on what Bacanze said, I've made wordpress themes before for this reason, and while they're featured on the home page of theme download sites, it can amount to some powerful PR7 and even PR8 links. However, this only works for a limited time.

I'd find a good theme designer, and negotiate.
