Just had my first drop from this algo update - #3 -> #20
Some idiot hacker is getting all the images, hacking other sites and making 1000 pages of images from everyone in the niche. No idea if this is hurting any of us, but literally every site I own in the niche is now filled with this shit.

same here. competitor used to rank in 2012-2013

Any of you guys stumbled to the unconfirmed fred algo update ? Is this somehow connected with what happening lately ? i have seen major movement from my client as well.

Because they're testing the algo and rolled it back for now. I'd expect whatever rank you dropped to, to go back once the algo is re-rolled out. Sad because I just had another site drop -40, now back, but when the roll out is complete it's going to be bad news.

disappeared in oct 2013 ... It wasn't dexindexed I just wasn't able to rank for keywords... Now a couple of days ago all the keywords came back and ranking top 20 for lots.

One of my golden keywords (single-worded keyword) was consistently ranking at no. 2 (below wikipedia) for the longest time.
That particular keyword landed me a few big contracts and I was happy. My clients were happy.
The birds were chirping and flowers were blooming... until 3 days ago, a new dude with a 5 month old domain dethroned and banished me
to - 50!! Did a quick research and found something that might help
1. That new website is just 5 months old.
2. Has very little quality backlinks, most of them coming from directories, forum profiles and comments.
3. What dude has is content. Well written articles, over 300 of them with very strong local references.
4. My site is 99% whitehat, most backlinks coming in from legit websites. Content-wise, pretty strong but slowed down lately
5. My other keywords started improving (from > 20 to Top 10)
As I'm typing this, my golden keyword started dancing to Page 2.
I'm guessing this is probably temporary since (2) and (3) is gonna cancel out each other soon. It's either that or I'm just trying to make myself happy.

Well you brought it on yourself bro, take a look at popular blackhat niches like coc - do you think these guys follow google guidelines like good 5 year old girls? If not why they are top 3? Luck? I dont believe in luck

I was a big hardcore fan of the good ol' SBs & PBNs when I started mate, until one of my own sites got tanked.
If that happens to a client's site, I would have gotten myself a second butthole for sure..but then again, you should give black and white a good mix for results. Still learning my trade tho

Im seeing everywhere that white hat seo's (no link building at that stuff) and even 15 years old legit websites are getting hit VERY HARD like 90% of traffic drop all over the forums everywhere so my wild guess they fucked something up very very bard and they are going to reverse it, because if not - looks like spam is finally going to catch up on google and get ahead of it big time
