It's time for me to focus on a long-term project I've wanted to pursue for quite some time. There are no strict daily goals, as i've realized that that type of management doesn't work well with me for the long-term. Instead, i'm focusing on having fun. The only goal i have is to simply add to the site each and every day.

I wanted to create this journey for accountability & to help others who have questions. I plan to update this thread roughly once a month with meaningful updates.

I'll work on this site throughout the year. I want to have this site populated with hundreds thousands of words eventually. I've got a strong SEO game plan I'll implement, but not until a bare minimum of 100k words are added to the site. I'm writing the content myself.

I'll additionally monetize the site using more than one affiliate program.

Project Details:
- Fresh domain, have an old site with nice metrics 301'ing to this site.
- I pulled 14 different KW reports from competitors using SEMRush (140k keywords overall). I'll go through and decide each keyword on my own ability to rank. I've found a ton of easy KW already.
- I plan to have each post have an average of around 2,000 words.

Update #1:
- Added 2 articles to the site

- loosely optimized the site (Need to add a CDN still).

- Necessary plugins are installed
- customized the theme to my tastes
- setup a large number of social media profiles. Using IFTTT to syndicate new posts.

As always, questions are welcome and encouraged

DA: Higher than 25
PA (Home): Higher than 35
CF/TF: around 10
The site wasn't anything amazing but i figured a 301 would give some quick juice!

Update #2

  • 45+ Posts created so far ( I reused a small amount from my old site). Figured more content wouldn't hurt.
  • Used semrush to download all of my competitor keywords. Narrowed them down judging on the difficulty (using a number of tools + my own knowledge). this gave me a good list of seed keywords i could consider. I will then be targeting long-tails within these posts (so 2-5 keywords targeted per post).
  • Tested around with the different styles of content and layouts. Its still something I'm deciding on. This includes topic of posts, length, etc. I started with the intention of writing 2k words per post, but i feel like that is forced. I dont want to do that. I'll write until the topic is covered (using my own discretion).
  • No real rankings yet. few are page 2-3. Thats fine - This is a long-term project and i'll slowly work on the off-site SEO throughout the upcoming days/weeks/months/years.
  • Had one fluke sale consisting of 3 bizarre items, giving me a $1 profit. yeeee-haw.
  • On-site SEO still is a work in progress and could be improved. thats on the to-do list.
  • Will continue pumping out content.
  • Goal for next month: 100,000 words

How are you setting up your IFFTT to syndicate your posts?

I have a few things very similar to this planned.

Good luck on your journey, I will check in every now and then when I can :).

I hope you reach your goal of 100K words next month!

Update #2.5

** had to write 3k-4k words per day for a client, didnt really write much for the website so far this month.

  • I've grown comfortable with writing a minimum of 1 post per day for the site. It doesn't take to long and its kinda fun.
  • I started doing some minimal offsite SEO for the site. I've been spying on competitor links and stealing what i can. I've compiled a huge list of competitor links that i'm dripping daily (1-5 quality links per day).
  • Once i get some extra $$, i'll be investing in a few press releases.
  • I'm in the process of scraping expired Web 2.0's currently. will slowly drip those out in the future.
  • Each post is targeting 1-3 super longtail keywords (20-100 searches per month) while also targeting some larger kw.

While im still writing daily for the site, i'm focusing more on the SEO side of things. Now, its more of a waiting game as long as i can stick to this routine of adding content daily and making a few manual backlinks. I've got an elaborate SEO gameplan down the road, and will talk about that in a few months.

Update #3

  • Up to 90 Posts on the site.
  • No real rankings yet - site is only 3 months old.
  • Need to do a good amount of foundation SEO work soon.
  • Hoping to hit 100,000 words by the end of this month.
  • Earned $2.00 profit.

Obviously the site needs SEO work done. Even if i wrote 1 million words on the site, it wouldn't make me any money given the condition its in. Only way I'll get a return on this site is if i do some SEO work to bump up the site's stats and page-specific SEO to rank certain pages.

Next month, I'll be over 100,000 words. I'll start focusing on SEO then.

Was following your last journey and following this one too! :) Great amount of content already, once your site gets stronger you should easily pull in a good amount of traffic :) Good luck!

Damn 100k words on your own? That's pure dedication. Adsense come to mind when a website has over 90 post

All the best! :)
Thanks for the support!

I'm glad to see you are joining this journey as well! Hoping to grab some traction with the longtails i'm targeting. I guess we will see!

Yeah, its definitely pure dedication. I think i'll skip the adsense scene and just focus on azon.
