Niche Site Research Question.............

So I have been studying like crazy, digesting all the info here. Need some input ..... I currently have two seperate formulas written down to help me decide if a Niche is worth actioning. Here is my variable...

Say, my seed is Tires. We have multiple Big Name Ecom sites selling tires. They have only one page dedicated to the micro niche speciality tire I want to promote. I want to prouduce multiple pages/arcticals in this micro niche. Is it worth pursing?


Edit: I guess my real questions is, Would the Ecomm Sites with their one page, still hold weight over my entire site (Mult. High Qual Articles)? Would it still be better to walk away?

You still might get some visits if you get on the first few pages and have a great title and description.

Then you'd want to have a fabulous website to make the sales, that brought in enough money to justify your efforts.

Yea...I think your right...worst case I could still pull in some long tail traffic. However, I am still curious if a niche site with multiple high quality articles, good back links....could go head to head with one page of Ecomm.

Disregard all....I think I answered my own question. Nothing a Nitche Site can do competing with Ecomm Head to Head regarding the seed word....Thats why we call them Nitche Sites....My bad....

Well there is only one way to find out

You could also look at more data to weigh it up. Things to think about like what does the top 10 results landscape look like, any weak sites in there? How good really are those ecom pages ranking? etc

But testing it out and viewing it as an experiment could be great, specially with the backup of as you said adding in some long tail stuff if you need/want to. Good luck!

Around 2010 I ran a site about a musician on a Sony label. I was just talking about the artist, had a nice little community - I ended up on 1st page, right under the artists/label sites.

I think I achieved this by being active across multiple social networks, leaving comments on blog posts and trading links.

Today - I'm trying to get back into this and build one website based around a niche I'm interested in - i'm hoping it is the key to my first real IM success after many false starts/toe wetting expeditions.

So to answer your question: I think you could compete if you spent enough time and effort - being passionate about the niche will definitely help.
