In order words, what are the benefits of having a Landing Page?

I mean, besides not throwing my traffic right into my blog.

Please be more clear on what is goal what to achieve with your web project?

You can target many keywords more effectively. Tell him it's hard to rank one page for 800 keywords better to rank 160 pages for five keywords each because the better organization will improve rankings in search engines.

Or just explain that it's way less expensive to make multiple landing pages to target multiple keywords (i.e., invest in onpage SEO) than it is to try to rank one page for like ten million keywords.

If you have done your research then you should be able to answer that. Landing Pages are important and can help with conversions but they aren't necessary all the time.
What is the client's objective, what is he trying to achieve?
Will it be used as part of a campaign?

Great answer, thanks.

Yeah, I'm a pro landing page guy, I love to use it and find it very helpful for page ranking. But I had problems trying to explain to my boss why a landing page is necessary. Mostly because he is reluctant. My client objective, in short, is to create brand awareness.

Creating landing pages for keywords you want to be found on is an important step in keyword research, which is the basis of all search marketing.

Your landing page gives you an opportunity to SPEAK CLEARLY to your target audience and tell them what VALUE you can deliver

This increases visitor targeting

Fewer visitors might still lead to better conversion as long as you target them correctly
