I see that you're experienced SEO-er, so I will ask you one question. Is this tool safe for making backlinks to the moneysite?

Well, it depends how you treat your money site, if this is huge business and link profile is crucial then I wouldn't recommend, but if you are running just some sort of affiliate/adsense sites, it's fine. It all depends on what you need.

I treat my sites carefully, to avoid any issues, but I have used on not important sites these tools and it was fine.

Did you see any rank improvements using this tool?

BTW, my money site is a membership site, 10 days old/active (the domain 4 years old) and I have 0 backlinks at the moment. I will start making backlinks soon, but I think that making 50-60 backlinks in 1 day with this tool (half of them .edu) is not a good practice. Am I right?

I have seen increase in rankings. In your case it's better build some high authority relevant links first and then add these additionally in mix. Most importantly is to avoid exact keywords as anchor text, focus on building your "brand" first.

i think bc these are edu-based, the risk is pretty much non existent... it would be way more dangerous if it were random spammy sites. granted these edu links probably arent high value, but when it comes to edus and govs, im not worried about penalty

i do agree about brand building - this probably isnt the winning method. but for $27 it gives nice diversity at the very least
