Making Money With Shopify

Hello guys,

I've been a member in BHW for quite a long time but I didn't post much and usually stay a silent reader.

Recently, I've been doing some research on shopify + studying the course from ecomgods. Now I am starting my own shopify shop to test the method.

Here's how it goes:

1. I discussed with my fiancee on which product is appealing to women. Took me quite some time to check in google trends, confirm it with her and find it in aliexpress.

2. Bought a domain from namecheap and start my free trial with shopify. I only managed to get 21 days of free trial.

3. Setup my shop according to ecomgods video and adding all the needed products. I guess I will need to know how to setup suggestions so that whenever user buys a product, it can always do an upsell.

4. I am using the FREE + Shipping model.

Now guys, about the facebook ads. Did you guys choose website clicks or conversions when creating a facebook ads? The facebook ads interface and new functions is quite confusing for me. Might need to do more readings on that.

Would appreciate more help from Shopify experts here.

In my experience it's well worth it to spend a lot of time fine tuning your theme and even getting some pro graphic design work from Fiverr. If you present yourself as a brand with a logo and good theme/professional site so many more people are going to be more interested. My first store had trouble getting people's trust. My ads would work OK but I wasn't converting. Finally I sat down one weekend and got all new design work (logo + header, social media graphics) and cleaned up my theme and the results were great. Just realize that there are a ton of people doing exactly what we're doing, and to make sales you gotta be better than 80% of them Good luck, but most importantly have fun!

Thank you for your input. I guess I really need to check if my website looks professional enough. About your ads, may I know if you are using facebook ads? I'm confused with facebook latest interface as on whether to choose website click or conversions. I got one ad running for conversion and although it is supposed to track add to cart, I didn't get any. However, facebook showed that I already have about 5 conversions

BTW guys, I noticed from my analytics that most of the traffic I received from facebook have 100% bounce rate. Is this because of wrong targetting or is it because of bot?

Gonna do some updates here:

Tried a 14 days trial with shopify:

1) This is basically a free + shipping model. I offered stuff like necklace, bracelets. Didn't work out and also lose money in ads

Now currently opened a new shop for 60 days trial:

1) It's a general store. I put a few products in store and tried promoting one free + shipping offer. Got a few abandoned cart and no sale.

All traffics are from facebook ads.

I am currently stuck and don't know what I should do. I do my targetting for US. Please, I do need some input

Hi,

It's quite random. First i tried with any bracelet or bangles that look good. Then I tried rings but didn't get any sales. Tried iphone cover but mine didn't get much engagement.

Then I tried beauty products but still no sales. It's hard to find a winner here.
