Been on Instagram since November of 2015 and have 2 accounts currently - One in the fashion niche with 51k followers and one in the cars niche with 115k followers. Everything went downhill in December of last year when my engagement on both pages dropped drastically and i stopped gaining followers organically. I went ever further to abuse everything - follow/unfollow like crazy, engagement rounds like crazy and think i ended up killing my pages. Currently last week i wanted to start dropshipping products and made a good shopify websites - took me about 2 - 3 days to complete it and launched my product. Guess what? I launched a shoutout on both pages - not a single sale and I got a combined total of 6 CLICKS. I really am feeling very down now since i've put a LOT of manual work into this. I started using FL in december, because i got frustrated with my pages dying and decided to follow/unfollow etc. I just disabled my pages and will keep it like this for 2 - 3 weeks and I am really hoping that everything goes back to normal. I really think I built a nice shopify store, my products are high quality, descriptions, photos and basically everything was done very well, but come on.. 6 CLICKS. I was expecting at least 6 sales for the first hour, because I mean a combined total of 166k followers is not a small number. I believe i am ghost banned, but not sure... Any help, tips will be very helpful and very very appreciated! I think this is my last chance guys, so please let me know what you think... Thanks.

P.S: I really put a ton of work and now I am expecting this to work out so I can start seeing a bit of a pay off from this whole business.. Thanks again.

Hey I have done something similar. Yah its a little disappointing but you have to realize you cant build a business like that and have it be solely dependent on the Instagram page or you will be sorely disappointed. IG is just a single marketing tool and while you have developed a big one, it wont equal big sales. Its still a business so you need to treat it like one and take advantage of other forms of marketing and also build a reputation.

I personally was able to drive 50 clicks the first day from about 40k followers but this was across multiple accounts. I think the # of posts has a bigger impact than the number of followers on one account. So 10, 10k accounts is better than one 100k account.

You would probably be better off selling shoutouts tbh unless you have a lot more accounts. I personally have 30 accounts totalling 270k followers and hope to be able to take advantage of them better soon. But for now it wont equal to many sales.

Its simple advertising if you think about it. If you get 1000 impressions, you may only get 1 clicks from that. so if your single shoutout only reached 6000 of your followers and left an impression thats just 6 clicks. The only way to make this better is better targetting, a product that appeals to that target market better, higher frequency of showing what are essentially ads and increase the size of that group your making impressions on.

Its different than likes and follows since those cost nothing. My follow back rate was around 20-50% on accounts, which is a lot better than maybe 0.1% for clicks and maybe 1-3% for conversions on those clicks.

Tried with shoutouts, but haven't really had any success.. I can barely get clients and I also think that I can make more with dropshipping, but I need to get my accounts back on track...

your posts got me thinking really hard.

firstly, yesterday i got an offer from someone selling a 96K instagram account (niche: jokes ) for just a mere $200.
my first reaction - is it a scam, how can a 96K followers account be so cheap.

my next thought is - are most of the followers fake? i checked, and i can't discern. most of the followers seem real enough

next - is the value of instagram really overrated. like you said, just six clicks. the conversion is low


Secondly, like what chad2320 said, instagram should be treated like a tool.

The earlier influencers simply transferred their followings from blogs and facebook over to instagram. those are hardcore followers

the followers we build from scratch in instagram. are they as sticky?

Instagram should just be one of the many building blocks for your business, not the only block.

6 clicks is very low though. What is your engagement like?

I feel for you. It sucks to pour your life into it and not get what you hoped out of it.

Just realize that at some point you're better cutting your losses and moving on. That's the hardest thing to do, I've ended up tossing a lot of energy away just because I didn't want to feel like I'd wasted my life.

Plus, the easiest: do a giveaway. 'Follow and like this picture to enter the competition' or something like that you know. People love free stuff.
If you do it, do it properly though and be fair, buy and ship that item for the person who won and maybe ask them politely to upload it on their IG and tag you.
Depending on the product you sell it shouldn't be a big expense. Think of it as an investment.

Exactly... You have an extremely low amount of followers yet get twice the amount of clicks ... I think my account is ghost banned and instagram don't show my posts to my followers, which I understand because I made a mistake with overusing engagement groups and follow/unfollow. I do think it is some type of ban / limitation, so I want to somehow fix it and continue my journey... Any tips to help me fix this are greatly appreciated. I deactivated both my accounts yesterday and I think i will keep them like this for 2 - 3 weeks
