DESTROYING your competitor ?

Hey guys,

I was reading a few threads around here and have realized that if you do a lot of blackhat methods to promote your site then it can get slapped by google/delisted..etc for example if you do scrapebox blasts or hella spam other blogs it would be bad for your money site.

So i was wondering is it possible to do this to all your competitors ? basically give them free advertising in the short term but in the long term they get screwed and their website gets deleted or something, then its your time to shine. Sure it's unethical but oh well...

What's your opinion ? is this illegal and do people even do this ?

You mean negative SEO? No it"s not illegal and yes people do it.

But it's unethical and I really despise people who do negative seo.

It'll come back to bite you im sure of that.

The general consensus is that it doesn't work anymore like it used to anyway so it's pointless.

Better to use the techniques discussed here to outrank your competitors rather than trying to destroy them. Why would you want to destroy a business anyway? Be the bigger person.

Yes it is possible, it's called negative SEO, not something I would do personally, as I have some ethics and morals, however yes, some people have done this.

Some rude people are doing this negative SEO. They are firing links from Chinese websites, porn websites as well.
But nowadays Google more than good to find these kinds of negative SEO attack.

im not trying to do it, i didnt even know it was a 'thing'

it just came to my mind that it's possible and wondered whether people do it or not and the legal implications of it.
