Too low exact match anchors?

So, will try to do this the shortest possible.
I had some page ranking ~60's for med comp kw.
Sent it some foundation links like PR's, profile links, some web 2.0's and some Public blog network links - all were brand/generic/naked/longtails anchors.

This got me to the 30's, again - I haven't sent any exact match anchors yet.

Then I sent 3 exact match PBN links from my Private blog network and the site jumped to 50's for some reason, I thought it will comeback but nada.
Note: At the meantime, more and more profile links are getting indexed from the package I ordered when starting SEOing this page.

So I just let it dance for like a month and BAM, site jumped to 150's. It's more than a month now that it's there. I never ever saw something like that (And I'm tracking every KW's I'm targeting).
I checked anchors and indexation of my links just to make sure everythign is right.
Have around 100 links indexed, balanced generic/longtails/naked/brand and only 3 Exact Match PBN links.

I'm seriously have no clue what is happening here, the only option I can think of is that about 50% of my links are profile links with diversified anchors and maybe Google see this as spam.
Not sure whether I should start building Exact match keywords again or what?

Thought about that, but it doesn't feel it's case because nothing wrong with those PBN :^)

Similar thing happened here. Don't know why. Was sending url, lsi, and generic PBN links and my keyword went up around the 30's after about 4 months. I then send 1 exact match link from a high trust flow PBN and the site went down to the 50's and has been there for almost 2 months now. No matter what I send to it, it wont move from the 50's and the site is not penalized.

Maybe the waiting game is taking months now. Like 6 months to a year for your links to take effect

Penguin 4.0 pretty much targets 2 things:

1. Anchor text ratios (duh)
2. Links quality

It is possible that even tho your anchor text ratio is right, the links quality is very low. 50% profile links is bad (sorry). Public blog network links didn't help much either I'd wager.

Furthermore, Google treats every search query differently. Make sure your anchor text ratio is what Google actually wants for your target keyword.

My suggestion is to analyze your top competitor's anchor profiles and start modify your own accordingly by building higher quality links

Removed the pbn links and the rankings came back to 50s.
Interesting, maybe those domains are penalized or something like that?

Have you fully investegated your domains ,your using for pbn ?

Maybe backlinks need desolving.

did you check domain history? (screenshots, archive, dns)

This pbn ranked few sites already and was filtered hard, but maybe something happend over the time.
Will check it.

@nodyguy I am experiencing similar issues with a certain site, it behaves very strangely like not responding well to links, strange ranking fluctuation and so on, pretty much similar situation like yours.

It's been more than month since your last update in this thread, how are things going on with the site? Just curious..

Google has an algo thing where it demotes a website for some time (usually no more than a month in my experience) to see what are you going to do, if you start removing your backlinks, it means that those links were manipulated, you got caught in their trap. It would be no surprise if they prolonged the demotion period with all the new updates and all.

That's smart, never thought they will actually go to this level as it never happend to me.
