Peter Thiel recently complained parts of Silicon Valley are "hyper-politically correct" about sexual activity, and shared a friend's theory that conservative parts of America tolerate Silicon Valley "because people there just don't have that much sex. They're not having that much fun. " Business Insider investigated Peter Thiel's claim.

Silicon Valley has the highest ratio of single men to single women... (However, it's worth noting that the San Francisco metropolitan area also has the highest ratio of people who identify as LGBT in the U. S. ) In fact, Dr. Sandra Lindholm, a sex therapist and clinical psychologist in the Bay Area, recently told Forbes that she's now seeing an uptick in young, male clients who complain about a variety of sexual challenges and issues. "They're coming to sex therapy because they don't feel they have time or energy for sex, " Lindhold said.

Some of the common issues include low sexual desire, difficulty meeting women, and performance issues. Plus, she points out people in tech generally have a reputation for being introverted. Another particular issue that frequently comes up is what she calls "tech overload": people spend so much time on their gadgets that they "forget about being in the moment. " Although there's no official data on Silicon Valley's sex frequency, a 2012 survey by condom maker Trojan revealed that Bay Area residents had the least amount of sex and the shortest time in bed, in a sample of 10 major US cities including New York, Chicago, Miami, and so about.

Maybe you should look somewhere other than Internet marketing if you want to get laid.

I love the term sex therapist. Why are all the people who identify as sex therapists, middle aged monsters who look like they could not even score in a brothel. Who are these one drunken shag wonders to preach the ins and outs of fucking to anyone. It is like floate preaching SEO. Laughable, highly laughable.

Working for a tech company in Silicon Valley seems like its a lot of work and stress.

internet marketing is not the same as being a low testosterone cubicle code monkey having to watch what you say and do for fear of human resources vultures... shudder

we are our own bosses, work from home, own scheule, network with other succesful people = wet pussy

Exactly, working for a tech company in Silicon Valley is much different than internet marketing.

Well hell... A prostitute would probably be the best sex therapist because the prostitute can show you rather than tell you or have you watch porn flicks. Unfortunately, most places have criminalized real sex therapy.

Probably not. A successful marketer spends countless hours drudging through logs and reports to determine how to better convert, how to draw people to the site, and the better SEO's also tend to write much of the code that they use on a day to day basis because the canned programs often do not meet their needs or wants. Just because your cubicle is in your den, does not mean that it is less of a cubicle, or that you have more contact with other people. By working at home, you probably have less day to day human contact than the coder sitting in a cubicle in Silicon Valley.

I almost puked in my mouth when I read that. No I'm not joking.

countless hours looking through logs? no. internet marketing is more an art than a science. its more rewarding to creative emotional copywrite than it is to someone that can spam a lot. most of which is automated, most of which is outsourced.

nothing wrong with coding for yourself, which will make you passionate about it. looking through programs with tens of thousands of lines of code daily? that sucks. most of a professional coders job is to read code. a much smaller portion is actually writing it. that sucks. entrepreneurs are just writing code and tweaking all the time. no team or higher ups to conflict with. you are the emperor and its empowering.

theres no appeal to socializing with your peers in sillicon valley. small talk around the water cooler is less satisfying than real talk, even if anonymously online. having peers interupt you while working is extremely frustrating and having a secluded office by yourself is crucial to being an efficient decision maker capable of getting into flow.

Those who can't do teach.

I have to say it, you are foolish. I did not create the root article. I took another article and ran it through a spinner to create a new emotionally creative article!

When I ran my own site, rather than pay a company to manage it, I spent three or four hours per day digging through logs to determine where the next attack vector was coming from! I was hacked only once, and then I started that process. I lost all my data files and code just once.

I spent another two hours, or so, looking through the page access logs so that I could have an informed opinion of what appealed to people. and more time figuring out just what language structure appealed to the readers.

Out of an eight hour day, I just accounted for seven of those hours. This leaves a single hour to be creative and possibly write new articles to entice customers. Perhaps, If I ignored a customer, an hour to write some code.

Whereas I work in units of labor, that eight hour day did not leave time to do the work that I used internet marketing to perform that labor.

Tell your story to someone that is not in the pits, and spend some time trying to figure out why I spun and posted the article!

Yes, another classic example of the piss poor education system. Where a teacher teaches via book and certificate and not experience. However take your worthless certificate to an employer and they want experience and not paper.

tech life spoils dating/friend relationships just like the title is true

Anybody into computers, dont have time for sex especially When most computer work take so much learning and hard work to learn.

The only time for sex is when you go pub ,and you accidentally Paul a chick and do the business, otherwise computer stuff always on the mind.

Of course some have plenty of good sex ,but it seems computer programmers geeks ,seem to have no time for sex , unless she holds a keyboard and mouse lol
