how much money are people really making doing local seo? I know a lot of people lie.and how do you find cilents?

Local seo easy , becouse your helping your local business get heigher in the serps.

Seo jobs usally word buy mouth mate , you get usally ask to help ,from another business recommending you.

Of course you need to advertise in local paper and a good website.

Do a good job and you will get referrals, showing up to the business with information (snacks, candy, food) ask for a minute of their time showing them the data you gathered about their rankings. Cold-calling which sucks but you can achieve some sales this way. As far as how much you earn is based off what SEO work you are performing Google is ever changing so expect to work for free from time to time to keep up with ranking tactics and changes view it as continued education like any professional job such as doctors, electricians, realtors etc you typically don't just make it over night but if you provide a spectacular service it can happen. I recommend you start with your own business rank it locally then you would have an example offer a couple for really cheap or free to get more examples and then you have a portfolio to show potential clients and you have built up your experience enough to provide a good service.

I outsource my local seo to Nate and I make enough money that I don't need to go back to a 9-5. Generally charging clients around $500-1000/month
