Good stuff.

I'm so green on IG that I haven't even looking into groups yet. Sounds like I eventually need to.

No questions. Just enjoy this discussion op and want to subscribe and thank you for it.

@VapeMonkey
1)If you had to start over again, with which niche would you start?

2) I see a lot of accounts comenting in "the big accounts" (Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, etc) and their comments always appear like "featured comments" (sorry i don't know the right terminology for this)

How do they do that? It's because they have a large amount of followers? Or because other people like his comment?

Thanks and really sorry for my terrible english.

1. Evergreen niches and mostly with video content as they get the most exposure at the moment.

2. I haven't researched the comment-like feature indepth. What I do know is that a lot of VERIFIED accounts "abuse" their status. When they comment, their comment will be highlighted/featured.

You account will get flagged for botting and the engagement decreases? This is the 1st I have heard actually

In some way, botting software do leave some fingerprints. I recall that someone here had reverse-engineered FL and found some footprints.

Beside that, even if you bot on low/medium settings, i.e. follow 300-400 a day till you hit ~7000 and unfollow all the way down. No normal person will do that. No matter what timeschedule your bot runs, to copy "human behaviour".....the pattern is really easy to catch by algo.

Few questions -
1. OK so I noticed some accounts of mine got tanked by the algo. But the accounts posting pics ,replying to DMS n comments manually aren't hit by the algo, what do you think about that?
2. Honestly I tried telegram groups that I can enter (40k), most of them are kinda same with same people and noticed no real gains even when no of people in round were 390. I did send likes to a smaller account and engaged with other. I believe its either quality (100ks group) or quantity 1k smaller 10k accounts (participating in the round )would be required to hit explore, your thoughts?

1. It's really difficult to put a finger on why an account can be hit. Might be botting, IP flagged, device flagged or using any other 3rd party app.
2. It's quality over quantity.

400 accounts x 10k = 4M potential reach.
200 (or 100) accounts x 100k = 20M (or 10M) potential reach

You get the point I guess.

What follow setting would you recommend using? I usually try only following users that have a certain follow ratio, engaged on similar niche accounts , and are active. With those settings I will follow 400 a day and usually only have 40 follow back. Although I do get good engagement(20%) from those who actually follow back I was wanting to grow a bit faster.

Yes I agree with you, that's why I said those group are bad as fuck for me, so I'm not participating in them anymore. But there is no way to grow an account those who aren't doing follow, unfollow or have targeted groups, that's why everyone is stuck with follow/unfollow.

Thanks for sharing what no one shared before :) I never participated in those groups (kik, telegram, dm groups) but I'll try to participate when I got time.

I think this is a metric on all the big social networks.

Too many followers and low engagement gets you into the suspicious list. Might be ghost/purchased followers or bots far as they care or low quality stuff being shared, and in all cases it's something they will want to hide. So make sure you keep engagement high or you'll eventually be sent to the sandbox where nothing gets seen.

As I wrote in the OP, I went through several "levels" of DM groups. Just make the best of it with what you have and keep advancing to the next stage.

There will be a point that you stand out and get noticed, so the quality groups will come to you.

No but seriously our stories are very similar, we both left BHW to go grind and learn for real.

What are your thought on VM?

As someone new to IG (five 7-day-old accounts), what is something that I can start thinking of and focusing on now to set my accounts up for success later?

I know you recommend not to use botting, but I'm reposting pictures so it's not like I have a lot of original content to draw followers in with. So I'm using MassPlanner, currently warming up my accounts and seeing some encouraging signs (maybe it's the IG algo favoring my new accounts to get me "hooked") when using autofollow + hashtags generated by DisplayPurposes and then pruned a bit more. I'd like to bot up to something like 10 or 15k followers, posting once per day, and then get involved in engagement groups.

What are the characteristics to look for in a good engagement group? Is it just a question of joining a few open ones, being active, and then hoping that you're noticed by some bigger and more influential accounts?

Thanks.

What engagement-groups do in your opinion give the most? The ones where you only like , or the commenting ones, or something else?
