Backlinks from wikipedia

Hello guys! I have analized the backlinks of competitors and noticed that they have backlinks from wikipedia. I've started to add link to the section references, but they are deleted. What shall I do?Thanks for the responses

Wikipedia is a nofollow link and besides a bit of authority, it does shit all. It's been so overused for SEO purposes, that I am fairly confident that Google has devalued Wikipedia links a while ago in terms of SEO strength. If nofollow can be devalued that is.

Did you purchased the backlinks from the marketplace or build it using the dead links from existing Wikipedia pages?

I have seen methods how to find dead wikipedia links and change it to yours, but maybe 2 years ago on this forum, I would suggest just buy it, its hard to do it for yourself, consider you are relatively new on this field.

You just have to be creative and have something of value on your site that can be a relevant "authority" for something to link to.

As others have said, you need to actually offer something of value. Do not link from Wikipedia to your main landing page. Instead link to an inner page on your site that provides real, relevant information to the Wikipedia article.

We ordered Wikipedia links on Fiverr, but I think some methods are better. For example, use ahrefs to find Dead links or domains on wikipedia and try to change these links on yours or buy domains (I've done this successfully one time)

I agree. I manually edited some wikipedia pages and inserted my links, but they didn't really do much.

It's amazing how ranking on G so dominates IM strategies that it can "devalue" a link coming from one of the top ten domains on the entire web. If a site that has 3.9 billion traffic PER MONTH can be devalued, how valid is the the whole "authority" link racket, anyway?

Instead of relying on it for SEO, it would be better to treat Wikipedia like a top-rated editorial link, for direct click-through, high direct traffic purposes. That would mean the approach is to have an entire article written and posted on Wiki (not just slip a link onto an existing entry), that points to a matching info-rich page on one's own site.

I.e., go about it the same way one would get an editorially compliant article written on Forbes, that links to a similar or mirror article on your website. Writing a carefully selected 'stub' that relates to your niche site's content would probably do the job. Outcome, you end up with a full article on Wiki that is designed to lead to link-through traffic to your site, not just a sneaky SEO link.
