Is DA more relevant than PA?

It's probably a noob question, but I've noticed that when using a free wordpress domain (such as "black.wordpress.com") your page gets the DA of Wordpress (around 97). Is that an advantage in terms of ranking?
Will such a strong DA help you get on top of other competitors even if they have more PA but lower DA?

Would I be able to outrank my competitors faster in such a scenario?

Actually DA means nothing for your sub domain. Sub domain treats as distinct domain, so your domain black.wordpress.com has 0 real DA.

PA is the authority for a page, a single URL.

DA is for the whole domain.

When buying/selling domains you don't have URLs, just the domain, so you use DA.

All web 2.0s on Wordpress will have DA of 97, just as the guys above me explained to you.

Still, DA is a "toy" metric. It's fairly irrelevant and very often really random. Site or web 2.0 with RD1 and 2000 backlinks (sitewide link) will often have pretty high DA/PA, even though it's nothing amazing, so I would rather focus on RD and TF. DA is way too sketchy and unreliable.

If your competition has a DA averaging around 50 and every listing on the first page of your target keyword has a PA of 1 and they have a scarce amount of backlinks to their domain and specific page, yes. Rape the first page.

Take the first spot in a couple weeks with a sub domain of Wordpress with drip fed social signals, backlinks, and blog comments in your relevant niche. Use Pandbot from Pandanot.com to keep your bounce rate low and have real browsers search for your website for select keywords.

Do the same with an expired domain (recommended) with a little juice in DA and PA in a niche you are after. Expired domain should have a nice TF (Trust Flow) and CF (Citation Flow) balance. Try to have these numbers for a domain match ex. 13TF & 13CF.

Try that out. A high DA does not hurt you with a Wordpress.com website. Your user experience is what may be hurt, depending on your market.

There is no point of considering DA as a ranking factor. Concentrate ON referring domain and trust flow metrics.

I am sorry for the spoiler -DA of the domain is not going to help you out.
It is actually for a whole domain, you should consider the other metrics of the domain (average PA, referring domains, back links, trust flow, topical trust flow). Hope you got it.

On a shorter note,DA is helpful when you are looking for buying a new domain or for a PBN
