What site to rely on for pagespeed

Hi,

I'm using both Pagespeed by google and GTmetrix but often I have a nearly perfect score on GTmetrix while using the google page speed site I find it very difficult to score over 90 for the desktop version.

My question is on, what website should I rely on when looking at the page speed for my sites?

I personally use Pingdom tools, but regardless which speed checker you use, they will all show different metrics.

You want to see what google thinks and so keep using page speed and gtmetrix.

Anyways as long as it's 85+ it's a green from google so should be ok.

Thanks for the list but I'm trying to figure our which site that we should mostly rely on regarding page speed as they all give different outcomes and we are certain that google adds a lot of value to page speed this days.

You can use one or all of them for different purposes. Kind of tweak and test thing. But if you really want to please the big G keep in mind that to my knowledge, ( i have sources or just google it) Google pays attention mostly to TTFB or time to first byte.


What affects TTFB?

The TTFB metric is affected by 3 components:

The time it takes for your request to propagate through the network to the web server
The time it takes for the web server to process the request and generate the response
The time it takes for the response to propagate back through the network to your browser.
To improve TTFB, you must decrease the amount of time for each of these components. To know where to start, you first need to know how to measure TTFB.

O sorry i got carried away. As for the OP question. PageInsights just makes the most sense to me. FTW its a Bleeping Google world!
