Hi,

how are you doing your keyword research now that Google Keyword Tool only shows like "1000-10000" searches per month?

I normally used the free version of Domain Samurai to get Keyword lists.

How is it done now? Was a bit inactiv the last month...

Best Regards

It's been like that for awhile. The only real way to do it is to have an account with active ads on it. For a time, it was possible to register for an ad manager account and then get it to work, but I tried that last month and it didn't work for me. Bing has KW research tool, but they have far less traffic and a different demographic, so it may not give you the results you want. I've been using Long Tail Pro's cloud version which takes data from different sources, but it's expensive.

Someone with knowledge of tools needs to write a sticky detailed thread on all tools that can be used for keyword competition research - this will be awesome!

I still use the Google Keyword Planner.

I feel like a broken record responding to these threads, so I'm going to copy and paste my post from another thread about how to get search volume results back, though I'm updating some of the information.

There should be a message at the top of the Google Keyword Planner that states that you need to have an active campaign in order to see the values rather than the ranges.

This means you need to have a credit/debit card on your account and an approved campaign that is currently showing ads for keywords.

At the very minimum, you need to spend $1 on your ad campaign before you see the search volume again (a member here let me know that he called Adwords and they confirmed this).

My ad campaign has been paused for about a month now, and I can still see the search volume for keywords. I'm unsure if the data ever reverts back to data ranges.

One member here tested this with his regular Adwords account, and I tested it with my MCC and regular Adwords accounts. We both had similar experiences.

As for alternatives, either pay someone to do your keyword research, or subscribe to a service like Market Samurai, SEMrush or Longtail Pro.

It's amazing how Google are desperately trying to limit tools availability for those doing SEO....Basically saying, "hey you want to see our data, then pay for ads".

Use This Tool : KeywordEverywhere.
It shows exactly the MS of google AdWords and it's FREE
