Did Amazon Change its Affiliate Policy?

Its funny, as I don't earn much from Amazon affiliates and I noticed that I don't get credited for the whole cart purchase value anymore.

I pass a buddy of mine my own affiliate link, he brought $150USD worth of books from that link, but I only got credited for 1 book.

Anyone else seeing this? Or could it be that the user must go through my affiliate link, add all the products to his cart and then I will get credited for the whole purchase? (My buddy already had all the books in his cart ready to purchase)

I'm not sure how they work in regards to products already being in the cart, but I highly doubt they ever credited you.

That would mean if I click on one affiliate link for "best shoes" and add one to my cart, and then click on "best running shoes" and also add that to cart, the second link would get all of the commission while the first one would get none, or the seller would get 2x the fee taken off.

The idea of an affiliate link is that you get credited for all sales it makes. The sale would most likely have gone through with or without your product being added on.

Like I said, I have never looked at how they treat Carts and commission, but it would be silly to do anything else.

1) If a user already has sport shoes in his cart, clicks on your affiliate link and adds a wireless router and check both of them out, you would only get credited for the wireless router.

2) If a user goes through your wireless router affiliate link and adds both sport shoes and a wireless router, you will be credit for these two items.

Certainly didn't know that.

That's exactly what I said. If it's already in the cart you won't get credited for the reason I stated.

Any purchases they make afterwards you will be credited before, because of the cookie period

Makes sense, you had nothing to do with selling the items that were already in the cart.

Since the "best shoes" is already in the user cart, the affiliate for "best running shoe" would only get the affiliate for "best running shoe" and not for "best shoe".

The second link would get their commission for that product only (not all), while the 1st link will get none.

I initially thought that the second link would get all of the commission as well, but it seems like it isn't the case.

What I said is that they would never give you the money from sales before someone clicked on your link, then gave an example of why this is stupid.
