Safety concerns regarding tier 2 links

So I have a few Web 2.0 properties that I'd like to strengthen using a 30K GSA link blast and just wanted to know if it's a good idea? Can it harm my money site? I read an old thread but don't know if the info is still relevant today and I just want to be careful

Nothing bad is gonna happen since you are using those blast links only to your Web 2.0s and its not going to harm your money site. With my experience I can say,the power of tier 2 back links doesn't affect much in the money site. It just increases the power of tier 1 links which might help tier 1.

But considering the count 30K links, you should at least have 100 web 2.0s to be targeted. Too much of automated back links would affect you web 2.0s negatively.

That's my two cents.

I wouldn't recommend it, and I disagree. The power of your tier 2 links definitely helps your money site indirectly. In fact, without a tier 2, your web 2.0s are basically worthless. 30k backlinks built with GSA is most likely going to be spam so probably won't even index/will get deleted soon.

What I suggest is one of these 2 options:
1. Get those cheap blogposts (800 for $40ish) and use a wide variety of LSIs with your money KWs. That should be enough for 15-20 web 2.0s
2. Buy some services which give web 2.0s backed up by a 3rd tier. So, you have web 2.0s in both your tier 1 and 2 and probably a GSA blast in tier 3. Maybe buy some cheap PBN posts or a couple hundred cheap blogposts mixed in.

Sounds like a good old fashioned two tier spam blast to me. I doubt it will be highly effective and I doubt it's safe. Setting up a ring of web2.0's and blasting it with spun GSA blasts is what worked a few years ago. Unless you're in a very spammy niche this will only get you so far and may well catch Google's attention shortly. I would never recommend it unless you know you're churning and burning a site and don't care.

GSA blasts should be reserved for T3 at most. Also you don't JUST want web2.0's as T1. You want a mix of quality manual links with hand written content. Then T2 should also be diverse and have unique content that is high quality. T3 is where you can get a LITTLE looser, if you even need much of a T3.

As long as the blast is strictly contextual links in the first tier and the links actually indexed then you're good.

You don't want blog comments and such pointing at your web 2.0s, they provide little to no value.

I see, I was going to mix in pbn posts with a couple of web 2.0's + gsa as tier 2 to strengthen them but I think I might just use the pbn's for now if gsa isn't that safe; I really don't want to mess up and get penalized

I wouldn't have GSA links as my tier 2.

Google is now looking a lot more closely at each of the links to a site ... this is certainly not the time to be doing a GSA blast IMO. Your tier 1 properties may be adversely affected if you have too many low quality links pointing to them ... and 30,000 is not a small number.

You would want mostly good quality contextual links in your tier 1 and tier 2.

That does sound intriguing. What do you mean by "if 2.0 has not dropped ranking" though? I don't understand what that means, my web 2.0s won't be ranking in Google

The advantage of web2.0s is that, you can control your links and keep changing things as you like. You may want to rank a handful of web2.0 properties for longtail keywords and then add your links to money sites later.

It probably ranks for *something*. Probably not for the keywords you're after, but it should rank for something, like the domain name (as in MyPurpleDog.wordpress.com would probably rank for "my purple dog").

Take note of something it ranks for, then do what @Reibl suggested and give it some time to see if the ranking drops (if the site gets penalized).
