Need suggestions for high config. PC requirements...

I am thinking of i5-6600k...is it necessary to buy a cooler for it?

they come with a cooler which would be enough, but its advised to buy one, theyre around 30-40$ i think, maybe less. you have to check the socket for the cooler aswell.
so: mb, cpu, cooler, same socket. (no need to worry about the cooler till the end, theres cooler for every cpu there is).

So I am looking to buy assembled PC and got a budget of around $3k but it's not necessary that the suggestions need to be till $3k as anything less than that can also can do...looking to buy something robust suggest me some PC cabinets too...also no ASUS please! I am thinking of i5 instead of i7...let me know!

Sorry, I can't help. Your budget would not allow for what I would consider high end. Dual Xeon processors E7-8890 v4 chip at $7000 USD apiece. Each chip has 24 cores. You would need a minimum of 64 GB ram, and 128 to 384 GB would be better. Dual Nvidia 1090 GPU's. Hell we are already up to $19,000 and the configuration is missing several items.

There is an Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-Core that only costs $1000. But once you complete the system, you are still in for $2,500 - $3,000.

$3000 for a IM computer? You sir, have money to burn.

What does "IM" even mean? Personally I can run all my tabs, remote desktops, skype instances, word document, PSD files, Sony vegas files all at once on my Laptop just as well as I can on my computer.

The only reason that I have built a computer is because of the gaming element. And even then, you could build a MONSTER of a gaming rig for half the price.

Just because you have $3000 collecting dust doesn't mean you should spend it.

Don't go for the K version processor if you don't plan to OC.

More bang for your buck.

Also if you are in india, get someone from USA to buy a gtx 1080 and ship it to you.

You will save like 20K INR if not more.

On serious note, a simple i5 4GB RAM, 400GB HDD Is plenty for any IM purpose. My 5 years old Dell is still working perfectly (except for the fucked up screen (my mistake))

He's is not trying to build a dedicated pc to sell VPS services lol, that's the main intent for Xeon processors lol.
Also, someoen suggested 4gb of ram, that's too low. Nowadays windows alone will take nearly half of that. 8gb is a minimum! If he has the money, why not build a decent pc that will be rocking for so many years to come (for the IM purpouse). He has one great thing to worry LESS, the GPU (graphic card). Those are pain in the ass to stay updated. When I bought the GTX980 2years ago, it was the #2 GPU in the world (right after the Titan), now there are 2-3 newer ones, it's still a great gpu, can run any game at full settings, but u get the feeling it wont be the same case for another 2-3years. GPUs get updated very frequently, cause games are better and better every day. The only thing that is long term, is the cpu, ram then comes the hdd.

I see actually have an 3 yr old LG led monitor....not sure if it will work with this?

Doubt so. If you want true colors, great response time (which is important for gaming, see youtube for yourself), and also the Hz of the monitor is important. I have 144hz, its a fucking heaven to watch, or even just moving the windows around the desktop lol.

Build the pc first, we'll talk about it after. Or take the pc, go to a shop, and try the monitors out, you'll se a fucking great difference, I assure u.

Not at all, it's the oposite. You need the gpu for gaming, that's a MUST, and with a good gpu, there has to be a good CPU. They work in harmony. None of the parts should slow down the other part. Like if u have the best i7 out there, and 1gb of ram, it wont do you any good. That's even the Windows 7 rating they used, they take the weakest compoment on ur pc, and based on that, they rate your whole PC, meaning that everything has to be in harmony, but then again, some parts you can easily upgrade, like RAM and HDD, so no need to worry about those too much.

You dont want to have a great monitor, but your game slowing down, whats the point there? I'd better play a smooth game, high FPS (frames per second) in a shitty monitor, than a slow fucked up game in a nice monitor. It's common sense.
