How good does the content need to be in Foreign Languages?

I am am an aussie living in sweden and im trying to start my own SEO conulting firm but my written Swedish isnät the best. How good is Google at scanning foreign languages?

Could I get away wtith Google translated blog posts on my swedish sites, only while im starting out?

Any help would be great.

Hi mate, I´m from Estonia and i can tell from my experience that it really doesn´t matter. I´ve written all kinds of crap, just translated from english and also ordered content. Since the competition is so low google is happy when there still is someone who's willing to write content. Usually, business owners just write two sentences and wonder why they don´t rank. And since we are talking about the quality of content could someone please shed some light, what is good quality content. I mean who decides it? Of course, content should be without typos and written naturally but some people talk about "really good content". For example, there are lot of writers in the world and they all have their different style, who says which is good and which is super good?

Definitely do not use google translate. Hire local translator or translate yourself.

In the same topic, what do you think about using google translate for text and then using fiver for proofread, they can review something like 1000-2000words for 5$. I think the quality will be higher than simply google translate. Lower than writer but no instruction about what keyword, how to do it etc...

Someone already used this technic?

It doesn't work like that Google translate is just a tool which will make your life easier if you need basic translation. One should never use google translator and paste text from there to blog.

If you don't have any clue about the output language then yes, you could use fiverr. I have used them for this purposes but translating yourself is better outcome. Because you get what you pay for, no-one on earth will translate 1000 words of text to perfection for 5$

Google translate is great for getting the gist of something, but its no substitute. Like others have suggested i would just hire someone to translate it.

I'm not talking about creating content or translation, but review a translation, not asking for a perfect work of course, fiverr you have what you pay for, but I imagine just review a text is like x3 faster than translate or writting it...

So I guess google translate + Proofread might be a good solution.
Cheaper than pur translation.

Anyone have used this? If yes do you think the quality is "enough" for google + real reader (it's for a e-commerce website...)

For foreign languages you can skip the proofreading. I've seen many sites that use only google translate and rank quite well. Buy a few new domains with whois protection or different name and test yourself. Of course visitors will not like such text but in some niches it doesn't matter.

So you want to start an SEO consulting business in Sweden, yet you can't speak the language properly, but you think that getting rubbish content translated via Google Translate is ok?

If you are building websites just for the sake of backlinks, then who cares about whether your content is 100% perfect or not? However, if you are trying to build up an audience for your business, then surely it makes sense to have content that is fully accurate in Grammar and spelling, whether it's in Swedish, Chinese or Japanese?

While this may not be a major issue with Google (some get away with it, still it`s no proof), Google-translated text (proofread or not) will probably look really unattractive to users, and may be extremely overwhelming to get through. While you are getting started - that could be much better for you to submit much less content to your swedish sites, but take better care of its quality, especially if the local competition for the keywords you are targetting isn`t too intense yet.

This just doesn`t seem reasonable to generate more content with the aim of achiving higher rankings, as it is supposed to increase your visibility and traffic, while in fact the content won`t be inviting for the users. Perhaps it could work for short and rather primitive e-commerce product desriptions, but auto-translated blog post doesn`t sound any good.

You can hire a cheap swedish writer for about $0.06 per word, do that instead .. look at "seo-forum [dot] se", for help, much better idea .. =)
