I don't see much about it here on BHW, but on my facebook page it feels like at least a 3rd of the sh*t I see is just some dumb link to a blog where the page is basically just a youtube video (usually one I've already seen on reddit a few days prior) and then a short paragraph describing the video.

Whenever I see these I just think "Any dickhead could repost videos from reddit onto a blog and share them on facebook". The question is, would it actually make decent money or would you have to be churning out 20 a day like these buzzfeed style websites seem to be doing?

I can't imagine this to work without growing your page first using ad campaigns.
But surely you can get decent visitors/views if you did it the right way.

Actually, I remember reading a method about it here in BHW.

You need facebook groups, profiles or fanpages with many members on it, and then you can bank really good money with that practice, scam is shitty yes, but it's shit that gives you money if you know how to poop correctly

Yup, they can earn a lot. Just need to grow a page (or in my case a ton of pages) that you can send traffic from.

Ha, nicely put. Hmm, at the moment I don't have anything going on on facebook - I haven't been able to find any decent resources on how to grow a facebook page, but I think I need to try it at some point. I have a couple of IG accounts but I have a feeling they won't be so useful for this since IG is crappy with links.

Are you a big facebook user? and if so, any advice for a newbie to build up some pages for this type of thing?

Sounds good. Is this something you're doing a much of at the moment? If you have any advice on growing pages that'd be really helpful for me. I saw your thread on making websites to sell and it sounded like you do more SEO stuff rather than social media, or is it a combination of both?

I do have couple million fans still, but it's really hard to grow on facebook this days, what i do is buy shares on bigger pages to grow small new ones with recent memes or viral stuff, when i started i invested in fanpages, but nowadays this is a bad idea since facebook efforts for wiping out spam are considerably getting better by the day and they are unpublishing fanpages massively, so i guess you came to the show a little later, still can try banking with facebook but it won't come easy or cheap for this matter.

buzzfeed sites make ferrari a day if not more
it's not that simple so any 'dickhead' can do it
called ad or traffic arbitrage

Buzzfeed because they are so huge actually charges to advertise on their site. Where the other sites use adsense, etc... to monetize the traffic.

You need a lot of traffic to make money with adsense.

Every site charges for ads, including those with adsense, lol.

Yrs, but their bulk/main income comes from adsense and the like.

When you first start up, no one is going to pay you for advertising.

I don't think I understand what your saying you or you just talking nonsense.
You get paid for ads even if your site just got them.
Of course if you get 0 traffic you get paid 0.

The OP asked if you can make money with viral content type site.

Their model to make money is by using adsesne or the like. Buzzfeed because they have such huge traffic actually charges for advertising on their site instead of using adsense.

You said you could also charge for ads, and I said that no one is going to pay for ads if you are new and don't have traffic.

They can earn a lot for sure - I've never done this myself but know many who are banking with it. The trick with it is syndicating fresh/viral content or news that has just hit the net within the last few hours. This will always engage the most as many will not have seen the content anywhere else. You can setup Google Alerts for certain keywords in your niche or if you want a real time solution and have a budget then I recommend Tubular Labs or similar

Some more nonsense, whenever you have ads on your site - you get paid for them being shown, end of story.

there is no doubt that fb is a great way for traffic. Many people use to join other group and post their content by fb auto poster.

Yup, I making good enough Money by working on viral content from Facebook pages.

depends what you think a lot is. made my website a year ago and started posting on small pages. my network is about 300k and half of that is my main page where i dont post links as often (like one every week). since i started it i made it to a million impressions and close to 600 bucks. (i made more due to using other websites other than my own)
