The 15 Post Limitation For Specimens Like These

There's a limitation before a new member can start conversations here in BHW - 15 Posts. As per @Apricot 's thread a member is promoted to Newbie+ after these 15 posts. Then he/she can start conversations.

Now my question is. if the same rule applies for accounts like these:

Took about 22 minutes for 15 posts, right after joining.
(I have no doubt that everyone would understand the point behind these posts once you look through them.)

Is it successful spam prevention?
(Sorry if I'm missing something here)

I am a part of another forum which has a 10 post rule bundled up with 72 hours of membership before the probation period is gone. Can we have something like that?

I think this rule is introduced to prevent automated bots spamming our PM. The idea is that a bot either will not be smart enough to create 15 posts or mods will ban him fast for spamming and his activity may be deleted.
Any one can wait 72 hours and rasing the needed postcount can result only in more spam.

Scammers and spammers are always going to find a way around the system - come on, its the same with SEO - find the algorithm and manipulate it. I think the best BHW can do is just try to prevent as many of these spammers as possible and I think they are doing a pretty good job.

If you remember the time just after the new platform launched earlier this year and how much spam there was before the new spam filters and preventions got put in place you will understand how much spam IS STOPPED every single day.

The 15 posts limit isn't the perfect like every anti-spam trick, but for sure this resolve 90% of the problems. I believe that admin thought about that more than one time

Well yes, the spam prevention cannot be perfect but I suggested this as I have seen people mellowed down.

Like sign up and make 15 post and done vs sign up and find out you have to wait 3 days. Spammers lose their patience.

If it's obvious spam or increasing post count by crap post just report it as such.
Far too often it's the - ' nice share ', ' I agree ', ' Great info ' type posts that are pointless and worthless.

Pisses me off when I log in, click on ' New Posts' and see the same user name has posted 9 times on the first page shown. Pisses me off even more when they're bumping threads from 3 or 4 years back too.

The antispam is mostly human work. The 15 post requirement is simply to give mods time to act. I say very little spam gets through, considering the size of this forum.
