Hello,

Prisma, the famous app (Android, iOS), is now a social network ! You can follow people and people can follow you. It's time to have new friends :D

Cheers

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the company was ready to launch as a social network?

Whats the good point to be in that network?
Orkut tried to do the "Hello" but failed badly.

the app was a temporary trend, its dying and will die completely soon

Why the company is not ready to launch a social network ? You don't have to wait to make something, you do it, that it. Everybody know that to create easily and quickly a community you need to be here at the begining and not at the end. Instagram, is saturated by competition, fakes... and now Instagram is Facebook...
- Prisma creates amazing filters (like instagram did)
- The app was download 10 millions times this summer (and the app was launched at the same time)
- The app looks similar to Instagram (more en more), and it's a good thing ! Very user friendly.

Opportunities :
- No problem with copyright, you take pictures from instagram -> filter in Prisma = Done ! And you have Free content to attract people !
- With Prisma you can send people to another social network -> Instagram

Problems for the moment :
- No link in description available
- No private messages
- You have to put your location before to post a picture (but you can use camera roll)
- You can create account only with Facebook (don't remember how I subscribed, but not with my email)
...

I'm going to do a 10K account faster as I can, we will see how is going on.

I agree that it's important to do something by doing it, and not stalling --- but a social network requires critical mass. Is 10 million downloads this summer enough for that? What's the retention rate? What's the degree of penetration for a particular user's own network?

Haven't used it in a while, but I remember the neural net filtering was slow--- I'm sure it's faster now. But, if it's still slow, peeps these days don't have a lot of patience.

Either way, I think it would be cool to see it grow as an instagram alternative.
