So this is one of the only onpage SEO aspects that I've never quite done.

What I'm doing is this:

Right Sidebar - Latest 4 published posts. (This way the 4 latest published posts will get a nice boost from all the existing posts in my site)

At the end of each Post - Related Posts. (4 Related Posts are shown from the same category, chosen at random)

Is this enough for interlinking? Or is there something else I should be doing, or is the above something I should never do?

I would throw in a few contextual links to post in the same category.

I would remove the most recent post from the sidebar and have it show all the post in that specific category. This will give the best silo structure but not necessarily needed if your site isn't that big.

I hardcore in context link, like Wikipedia, useful for SEO and user experience. I currently average 3 per post, and constantly go back and place more as I add more posts.

23 Posts, I guess that's considered small so I shouldn't worry too much I guess?

It's just that I always see people saying that they manage to rank plenty of sites with onpage seo and I've never experienced that, no matter how much I perfect my onsite SEO. I guess it's pretty decent already though.

One thing to be careful of: don't over optimize anchors even when interlinking on your own site.

I have a keyword that just wouldn't budge from position 19-20, I realized I was using a couple of pages to link to it with exact match anchor. I removed the exact match (replaced with generic) and a week later it shot up to #7.

What I do is link back to 3-4 previous posts(could be less or could be more depending on length of article) using generic anchor texts (close variant and rarely exact match).

I also do what @asap1 said as well. So the method I said above plus the one @asap1 said does wonders for my on page.

So when all is set and done I am linking to previous posts from the newest one to create a chain (theoretically) and this way the backlink juices gets spread through the website.

Another thing I almost forgot to say is that I link to 2-3 other authoritative sites in my niche (not direct competitors) that I think would be benifical as well for the reader to read.

I'm having a hard time finding out how to properly link to other posts even though they may not be related to the current post at all.

Only way I can think of would be a "Read More:" at the bottom of the post but then again, how would I name the anchor texts when I'm already using long tail keywords as my target anchors, kinda hard to find any kind of LSI already and I just can't type the generic anchor texts such as "click here, check it out, read more here" etc.

Also wouldn't it be better to interlink from older > newer posts instead of newer > older posts like you said? Since older posts may have more authority / link juice and it's the newer posts who need help in ranking it seems to make more sense to me to add interlinks towards the newer posts and not the newer posts interlink towards the older posts

Before you start writing, have a quick look over the article list you already have, if they're 20 or 30 like you say it'll be quick. Then when you write, you'll know you have articles about such and such subjects. Link to them in the text as you go, not necessarily using the main kw anchor, for example:

"Recently there's been an increase in hacker attacks due to flooding in Swaziland."

You could have linked hacker attacks, but Google would have thought hmmm this is optimization. So you linked increase which is near hacker attacks... Believe it or not, Google will pickup the LSI hacker attacks in that case.

Why would google pick up hacker attack , is it becouse the " " and hacker attack seen as the title , as it used on other indexed pages on google? So google class that as a lsi keyword

Or does google see hacker attack as the most popular word in the " " paragraph

Just asking as i been doing seo for years never seen such seo trick

Because they pick the entire phrase where the link is and they try to make sense of it. See, back when they used literal anchor texts, you could bomb Google. Now it got harder, cuz they no longer consider strictly the anchor, but the context. In that case they pick up the phrase and see some relevant words : Swaziland, hacker attack and floods. That link will pass semantic juice about those 3 subjects.

So the nearest to the link will become the lsi even theo there other possable link words

Yeah proximity is a strong signal. But their algorithm is complex. It probably looks at gradual steps : the anchor, the sentence, the paragraph and the page....a page about oranges won't pass much juice about apples.

That's probably why on-page SEO has gotten such a boost recently, by changing onpage texts you can make your links and text really relevant to your niche.

yes contextual link would make ranking for easy keywords.

Thank you for teaching me this , it not in the rules of seo ...

So by letting google selecting the lsi it more powerful then linking it directly....

The link must link back to the subject at the other end of the lsi

So this is how everybody getting so many
Lsi keywords to get them heigh in google
And i suppose wiki the main souce ....

So a quistion
Can this be done with mutipule links with diffrent lsi words but on the same paragraph ?

Also on one page how many refrence links are the maximum or should all lsi have refrence links?

You lot have killed my brain thank you

Yes because of the anti-googlebomb algorithm it is very easy to over-optimize and links can do more harm than good.
