I just checked that website from my android tablet. The only thing that my os and browser didn't leaked was that the coffee in front of me contains some milk....the rest of the info about me was there. God damn...for those still wondering how facebook or Instagram track and ban them...visit that site.

I can't speak for everyone but all my measurements are in cleared sessions from an embedded browser that I never use for anything other than taking measurements. In theory even my canvas fingerprints and most of my hardware fingerprints are different because the supported technologies are different. Question for @validseo - a lot of your factors relate to "authorship." Have you seen those make a difference over the past year or two? I'm on the fence about authorship-related factors since the death of Google's own authorship program. It seems like a no-brainer, like exactly the sort of thing Google should rate highly, but (1) I keep hearing from people "in the know," for what that's worth, that it's too technically difficult for them to pull off correctly and (2) I see a lot of results where it's obvious Google is blind to who really has authority on a topic and who doesn't.

Have I seen them make a difference? No. But that is a loaded question. I have seen them correlate in specific niches. They do not correlate broadly at all. So if I was in a niche where most of the top ranked websites use authorship I would likely follow suit too. You have to keep in mind that the things people do with their websites changes from niche to niche. Retail stores and plumbers don't use authorship, but blogs and news do. Similarly Google can change what factors come into play from search to search and they claimed that part of rankbrain is doing just that. I would wager that in certain niches for certain kinds of queries it is a factor.

I choose to be agnostic until I see the data for a niche. I've said things aren't factors only to find a niche where they are. Truth is all of our past SEO experience will only let us down. The best thing you can do is measure and know what works right now. There is no guarantee about it being true tomorrow. So in that sense large parts of our SEO experience is a trap.

I think a lot of people claim Google has superpowers that they demonstrate no evidence of actually having. Like claiming their AI has the intelligence of a 13 year old. Bullshit... that would be the accomplishment of the century if it were true. In this case, giving a boost for authorship is far more plausible than other things people claim Google can do. I also bet black hats exploited the living shit out of it too. This is why we can't have nice things.

Yeah... more evidence that Google's engineering isn't up to the task of developing a functional 13 year old intellect.

interesting... my sites built with footer links are holding strong. I wonder what other variables are at play.

I can confirm drops using footer/sidebar links after Penguin 4.0. Can't be sure if that's the cause, but it very well might be a big factor. Links used are from SAPE type of network.
