Sorry about your predicament, I think we are both in the same shoe, but In my own case, I'm yet to try register.com, do they accept Mastercards and do I need a coupon as a new user to enjoy their $0.5 fee?

Depending on where you are the only workaround is to purchase visa or master giftcards and use those to make the purchase. Otherwise with godaddy it can be a headache.

YOu can pay via Paypal at GD when buying 2 years, the 1st year is just only $2.99

Yes I've used many times before, usually many discounts that using coupon from Godaddy require you to pay via credit card. But with the discount $2.99 for .COM on 1st year/2 year buying you don't need to pay via credit card.
