How to do Link Building? [HELP]

Hi guys,

I own an e-commerce website and I've been trying to optimize it and do SEO. So I finally got my first partnership where they want me to do a guest post and they will link to my website. But since I am new to this what things should I be aware of?

1. Should i just write an article and send my website link to them? Would this help my website and product pages rank higher on google?

2. Should I ask them to link my main domain or product page? Is there any difference on that?

1. You want to write and article and have a link embedded in the article back to your site. Lets say your ecommerce site is about dog bones at one point in your article you might write " Be sure to check out my website on Dog bones if you need more info.

2. if you have a sales page with one item for sale you will want them to link to that. In the example above that would be your "dog bones" page. That will give you the most bang for you buck as far as rankings are concerned. If you have a site that sales many items with many pages of content then linking to your home page might be the better choice as it will help all of the pages (although not as much as it would help one page if you linked directly to it)

These are of course just my opinion as this is all based on deciphering a google algorithm that even the highest executives at google are unsure of all the details.

Take the easiest way:
- find 2-3 major competitors;
- grab their links (use ahrefs);
- detect which links are paid, free, listings, free articles, etc.;
- make the similar link profile.


P.S. Ahrefs costs $100 per month - it is better to ask someone who has access to bring to you the results for just $5-10
