Google rich snippet (5-star rating) - Question

I wonder if it is OK to create a 5-star review Google rich snippet for my blog posts if it's actually not a review, but just an article with a discount link for a product that I'm promoting (affiliate)? Can Google penalize my website for this? I mean if it's not a review. I've seen 2 of my competitors doing this.

Does that mean I would be fine?
