Need advice & thoughts on my new social network

Hello BHW, some shameless self promotion here. Basically, I love reddit.com. It's an awesome website, but they tend to shadowban marketers/anyone promoting their website.

I eventually found voat.co which was a lot better about it but they're smaller.

I decided to set up my own reddit style clone site. I'm pretty happy about it so far. I found a pretty neat domain name.

You can only up vote, not down vote. Anyways so far all of the posts are fake uses. I'm taking a lot of content form reddit, stumbleupon, voat, etc, etc.

I also set up a facebook ,twitter, and google+ page for it.


I would love some advice and thoughts on this. I analogize for the promotion if that's not allowed.

I don't trust sites that want me to donate in bitcoins.... but yeah I know your sites not linked here so can't look at it but what you have to think about is how on earth are you going to afford the server space and all the man power running something like reddit? Good luck with your endeavors.

I'm not sure why you brought up donations and bitcoin the website does not ask you to donate anything at all.
AS for the infrastructure I don think the website will ever really be as big as reddit. I'm not trying to become the next reddit.

I supposed I can post an image of the website it might help people understand what exactly the website is.

I censored the logo to prevent any sort of promotion.

It's very similar to reddit, where people can sign up super easily no email activation except it has social logins set up to make it even easier. Also you can up vote but not down vote. This is due to the domain name.(Cant post it here.)

Also it different from reddit because reddit lets people create their own little communities/subreddits while this website will not. It just has some categories and that's it.

I'm not sure why you brought up donations and bitcoin the website does not ask you to donate anything at all.

Is it easy to fake thoose up votes too? Do you have any fail safes to stop botted activity. So basically your creating a "news" site that people can up vote on. Well It's not really supposed to be "anti bullying" I guess it looks like that. I support free speech 100% as long as it's legal. So if someone wants to call someone else a cuck, that's fine by me.
Voting can probably be abused if people really wanted to make a bunch of accounts and upvote themselves. I might set somethign up to track the IP of a created account and if someone has like 1,000's accounts connected to the IP I would suspend the IP.

I don't really want to do that though, seems like a privacy invasion.

The website does have Google recaptcha which can be enabled, currently it's not.

It's not really meant to be a news site. People can post just about anything they want to similar to reddit. there's a category on the sire called "Other" so basically anything goes.
