Help! Being sued for copywright infringement

The guy wont sue, It will cost him way to much to even profit from the settling fee.

Exactly, thanks for this comment...it will cost him waaay more in litigation fees then its worth...attorney's normally take 1/3 of whatever is being sued for, that's not including him having to pay the lawyer upfront for litigation period. I would take the content down if i was you...but a lawsuit is not coming your way bro.

Nothing is copyrighted in the USA unless you apply for a copyright through the federal government and pay a fee. Just publishing content on the web and writing copyright 2009 xyz does not make it copyrighted. It needs to be registered, Just register your content with the copyright agency or ask him for the federal copyright number he received when he registered it (copyrighted it). Good Luck.

Bottom line: adding a copyright statement on your website does not make it copyrighted. The first to register it with the copyright office and pay the nominal fee has the copyright!!!!!!! Not the first to publish it. Just pay $35 and it is yours.

I know this for a fact. I got into a big pissing contest last year with my registrar (GoDaddy) when somebody complained to them. Even though it was my material it was difficult to prove to GoDaddy so I just went and paid $35 to the US Copyright office and sent the copyright number to GoDaddy and case closed. The jerk that was stealing my stuff had to pay GoDaddy $250 and promise never to do it again otherwise GoDaddy was going to cancel all his domain names on a reseller account.
