Why do we change IP address when performing SEO-related tasks?

It's a good way to hide your footprint from previous work and it's a great way to revive a dead website. If you have an aged Domain then it's a good idea to change email address if you're planning to revive it for its old keywords (I'm currently working on an older website atm).

As most of the others have said, avoiding footprints. Also if you are based overseas, it is much easier to use a US IP for many SEO-related tasks.
