Hey guys, I started posting manually on Instagram in September 2015. My page grew very quickly and I was averaging 1.0k followers/day. Fast forward to a year later, I hit 300k followers and my follow rate goes from 1k/day to 2.5k/week...

Tried everything: liking, use new hashtags, new content (not original), new caption, new description, business account, non-buisness account... Nothing works.

I know most of you will tell me: "post original content" well, I can't. My niche is beauty tutorials for women.

Does anyone know what's happening? Also, it seems like my views per post is plateauing at 12k. This summer I was hitting 30k on average.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I have heard of this happening on a smaller account and what it was is that they took you off the suggested users list.

When the engagement went down, was it about the same time you switched from a personal to a business account? That's been reported to happen to many.

Are you using new URL shorteners, or changed the URL on your bio?

I'm not sure, but that's still a lot of success happening on your end, don't take that for granted :) nice work!

I added a link for my other instagram page, but that was after the decrease in engagement,

Actually, it started decreasing when they rolled out the update. I waited a good month with horrible engagement to decide to make a switch for the business account. When I saw that nothing changed I moved back to personal.

It's not you. It's their dumb algorithm change.

Yeah! I was thinking the same thing.. what's the solution? changing niche?

No point changing niche since it's affecting all niches. All I can say is get used to the new change or join more engagement group.

I have the same experience, just on a much smaller scale - I do pretty much everything right + post gorgeous pictures with interesting captions, relevant tags, etc. My pics are as good, sometimes better, than the accounts getting tens of thousands of likes. Still, I find incredibly hard to get really airborne with my feed... :-(

just IG being facbookified killing our engagement, most people have been affected.

Doesn't make sense to me.. Which accounts ARE getting shown after the algorithmic update, then? It's designed to show the posts people WANT to see. Now, people can't rely on just posting at the right time to get their boring content seen.

its not just that, its that our posts dont get seen by people that are already following us.(yes you cant get 100 percent of your followers to the posts but IG is purposely not showing the posts)

Just like Facebook (since they are owned by them) Instagram doesnt show you post to everyone....as it would be impossible to show that many photos across their network. Instagram is going based off engagement...so that is why you need to post things that cause engagement (tag a friend, ask a question, run a contest etc..)

With 300k followers there are a lot of things that you can post to make money etc from it and still get people engaged (like a contest).

Engagement is the key to keep everyone seeing your posts...otherwise Instagram puts SPONSORED ads in its place so they can make money.
