Hey all,

I started IM a few months ago after lurking on this forum for a while, I'm currently doing some blackhat social media things. I make some okay money now and its been a good start.

I work in sales and marketing in real life, and have always wanted a real life business alongside IM. I want to involve IM in this business though. So what do businesses need these days? Or what can I promote to the general public?

I have a few friends with their own businesses and I know they get battered daily by people trying to sell SEO so i'm going to steer clear of that. I've considered ORM, Social media marketing, lead generation (i am very familiar with lead generation but not sure how to generate my own from scratch). I'm not fluent with coding or SEO, I know a fair bit about social media, I can sell over the phone and in person.

Just wondering if anyone has any input on what a good idea for myself would be,

Thanks for reading

the real challenge is this: everybody knows what they want, but not what they need.

Great entrepreneurial spirit lies in diving deep and creating a product/solution/service that people/businesses need.

A lot of business are stuck with things that are slowing them down, from banks using outdated software to people doing bookmarking for SEO. People don't know what they need. That's where people like us come in.

This is a real awesome, deep reply.. Being original and useful to a business will always be successful I guess
Hard to get market research from a multitude of businesses though and most people will probably not admit / not be aware of whats hindering them?

I'm interested in selling SMS marketing to local businesses.

Because email is a bit oldschool, and has low open rates. A harder sell.

But SMS is hip and flashy to these owners, they know all their customers have a cell phone. So why not use their customers cell phones to their benefit?

Facebook is also continually diminishing the returns you get from organic posting. You worked hard to build a fanpage of 1000 customers who like your page, and now when you post an update guess what... Facebook only lets about 5% ~ 8% of them actually see your updates! That should piss off business owners, and that's a pain you can bring up. The solution is building your own LIST. You can do that with SMS.

Exactly. For example when Henry Ford built a Model T, people wanted horse carriages with better suspension. They didn't want a model T. But once it came into being, it was a huge success with the masses.

really depends on who you are targeting. Say a local company you are seeing more and more going to managed services like finding a provider that can help with office365 or Google Suites and so on.
