You need to visit your page 1 competitors for your keywords and look at how they get away with such high keyword match counts in their pages without getting penalized and implement similar strategies on your website. It's not going to be easy but for the fairly high competition keywords you are targeting that is what you will have to do. Otherwise go for long tail versions of those keywords... BPA free dog toys, recycled dog collars, etc... where your 100 matches per page will be more competitive.

So I have to somehow add more keywords to my reviews? Or to my website in general. Also most of the keywords that I target aren't too competitive I think.

Site looks nice just need more content. When it comes to sites like this the main thing google looks at is content quantity. Also when people click on dog toys or dog health you have it where people have to click on an image, would recommend changing this as this could confuse people.

I will talk a little about on-page SEO, you got some issues here. We'll take this for example:

Use postnames, and add targeted keyword in URL if possible.
Make sure to add your keyword in title and URL as smoothly as possible.
Make articles longer, a short description is not a review, although you are mentioning it a lot. Add fun facts, how to, did you know, etc ... Add actual data compiled from others reviews. Actually you should read some tutorials about how to write great articles.
Use proper headings, bold and italic format. In this article your title is H2, make it H1 and the only H1, the others can be H2 or lower.
When reviewing multiple items, write a list at the beginning of the article,containing all the products then make page jumps to their corresponding description https://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/page-jumps/ even ask the visitor to click its preferred item.
The ending paragraph of this article really sucks, you need to come up with something better. If you can't write a good ending, leave it blank, or just find a magic closing paragraph like a signature and write that every time.

Give a silo structure to your website, help google to better understand your content.
Forget about building links for now, bring your on-page to a proper level, and add more articles.

Regarding your on-page SEO, this were the first problems that i came across. Fixing those articles will help, but not a lot, nothing will help "a lot". You need to take care of your internal linking too, anchors, etc...

You're welcome, in my opinion, being a website owner you must learn how to do this. Even if you outsource off-page SEO, on-page is something you really have to know. There are a lot of softwares out there that can help you do this for free. If not go to fiverr or ask someone here to get you Moz on page reports, they'll highlight exactly what you need to do.

Categories, related posts, tags, menus and others do internal linking, but they do a mediocre job at best. You need do learn how to do a proper internal linking, search for some tutorials. Anchors are the words that are linked to other articles. They can be just a link, or a keyword, a brand name, etc... This is an anchor.

Basically yes, but teach yourself first how to do that properly, read some tutorials. You don't have much content now, and it's not a critical issue yet, but it will become critical when your site will be loaded with articles. Start doing it now with every article you submit, it will help you enormously in the long run.
Other things that i can think of right now is adding your site into Google WMT and a sitemap.
