Why can't I make a profitable Ad on FB?

I just dumped $125 USD in to what I felt like was a decently targeted market for my online store.
I sell male jewelry, I targeted the age group and gender and locations that would enjoy my jewelry, I received some 400? clicks and not 1 sale.

My prices on the website are good.
Hoping I can get some tips as to where I might be going wrong...

Hey codfordinner... I'm new to FB ads myself but have you checked analytics or some other 3rd party tracking software? I only ask because my FB ad manager clicks were way higher than what Analytics and another tracker had my clicks as. I searched around and inflated click in FB is apparently a pretty common problem.

So perhaps the 400 FB clicks is actually only 75 real clicks or something? If that's the case, you might not have enough real clicks to be able to tell whether you are converting well or not yet.

I'm assuming your ads are counting clicks to your website?

Yeah the ad was counting clicks, oddly enough shopify's customer visits were about 100 lower than Facebook. That said, I expected to get a sale with even 300 some visitors..

Sorry to hear that, yeah if 300 people have clicked it might be an issue with your landing pages. I had a similar question about landing pages and solicited tips because of non-existent conversion of FB ads. Some of the advice I got that I will be trying is to look at competitors, I would think some of the bigger ones (i.e. with big marketing budgets) and look at their landing pages to use as a guide. Maybe prominently display only their top selling products, or maybe their ads are for a single product and the landing page is just to buy that product?

Facebook is like... paying for bots traffic.
If you check your bounce rate and your server logs you will see that big amount of the paid traffic are bots

Would suggest you using Facebook as remarketing tool and spend your ads $ on Adwords/Media.net + Adroll.

It is not secret however, that there are some idiots who are offering similar services for draining your adwords budget with fake clicks etc.

What we know is that most of the paid FB traffic are pure bots something that was escalated thousands of times to FB directly.

I have been working with Fb ads for a long time.
I serve client of different niches & countries.
I don´t think that the "bot theory" is actually real.
Just seeing the results of my customers I can verify that.
Every niche have different traffic lose, thats pretty common on Facebook and I think its because the way that Facebook and the network, google analytics, etc track is different.
Where I really see a pattern is when pushing to WebSite Clics rather to other kind of ways of pushing for traffic.

For example, a campaign doing WebSite clics you get 100 clics on Facebook and 80 on analytics. The same campaign done by post boost count 100 clics on facebook and 95 on google analytics.

I am not sure why is these but I think that when you push for "website clics" Facebook force a little more the clicking possibility of the user.

Of course when I talk about "click" I talk about "outside fb link click". Many people get confused as before Facebook count clics only the outside facebook clics. Nowaday facebook distinguish the "total clics" with the "link clics" we always should look on link clics to compare with our outside facebook tool.

In more cases these "column" is not coming from default and it needs to be "customized" inside the manager.

We have not said anything about FB traffic report vs Analytics report... The best traffic reporting tool is the server log files .
And claiming that the FB traffic is real at 100% is false .

Or you are saying that the live example of bot coming from facebook is not a good proof for that?

I am just saying thay many people use and trust Facebook traffic to believe that there are bots. But your theory it sound at least logical.

Well I can't say for sure, and I'm not in anyway expert on FB advertising, but isn't this their redirecting page and not bot:
Like m.facebook.com/l.php?direct=whateverpage.com

Let me show you example:

That is not a bot traffic. This is real traffic. They are just not linking to you directly but they use that l.php page to send outbound traffic. That is all from what I can tell.

This is pure virgin bot with Cyprus IP , platform android / chrome 70 visits etc etc .

Facebook ads are not redirecting traffic like shown in your example.

Had the same problem. Bought some ads from facebook, got 50 clicks from it and 40 clicks according to metrics. May be it is small amount of clicks to make assumptions, but I stopped the campaign because when I checked my metrics more deeply, I assumed that they were bots. Here is why:

1)Average time spent on my website was about 00:03 (3 seconds), and 80% of them were 00:00 (0 seconds spent on website). Which is strange, because normally you need a couple of seconds to look at the page and leave.

2) None of that clicks appeared in my webvisor, what is REALLY STRANGE. Usually my webvisor records even 00:00 time spend sessions. But this time even sessions with some time spent on the website were not recorded. (I assume that spam filters blocked that sessions)

One possible explanation of this is that my campaign was too bad that real people didn't click on it and with the time random bots clicked on it and my money were wasted.

I payed about 0.50$ for each click (which is high assuming that they were bots) and CTR was 1,7%

Did you tried the lead generating in facebook ads? give it a try, if you made a good ad you may get leads with phone numbers and emails and full details.
and if you are going to send them to your site make a good landing page, believe me a good landing page make good ROI
and if I were you I will use IG it's very good to target young men with interest and sell directly from there.
