can anyone recommend any decent inspirational/motivational books? self-help or IM/internet related is fine. I'd prefer published books that i can buy on the ibooks store or hard copy.

On another note, thank you to everyone on BHW, you have changed my view on many things, and the journey threads are motivational.

"Hop on Pop" inspires me

I found those 4 really interesting:

4 hours workweek
How to win friends and influence people
Relentless
The obstacle is the way

I'm a huge fan of Tim Ferriss. If you can bypass all the sales jargon and gobbledy-gook, the approach and research and time and passion he puts into the things he churns out is incredible.

https://is.muni.cz/el/1423/podzim2013/SOC932/um/43553173/FERRISS_Timothy_-_The_4-Hour_Workweek.pdf redefined everything about my business sense, and gave me the ability to do the work of three people (full-time project manager, fill-time reputation manager, full-time husband) with the time of one person. Sure, I don't have the ability to escape my 9-5, nor do I want to. I don't have the time aside to disappear for six months and travel. But a lot of the concepts I could adapt to my everyday life, and I think there is only one other book that has shaped my daily routine more. And that book is...

https://fhww.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/4-hour-body.pdf. Minimum effective dosings, the Slow-Carb diet, mastering temperature to manipulate weight, minimalist mass gaining, sleep engineering, life extension, and on and on. This book is golden for human body experimentation and improvements/enhancements. Highly recommended.

https://fhww.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/the-4-hour-chef.pdf is also an incredible book for not only cooking, but also the broad-range concept of meta-learning (learning 80% of what you need to excel at a skill in 20% of the time, i.e. the Pareto Principle).

As you can imagine, I'm pretty psyched for Tools of Titans to come out: https://www.amazon.com/Tools-Titans-Billionaires-World-Class-Performers/dp/1328683788

4 hours workweek was definitely an interesting read for me.

Thanks gents, i went along and purchased relentless and 4 hour workweek. I appreciate the suggestions.

You can get a lot on torrents.

For inspiration, I liked "The War on Art" - Steven Pressfield. "The 10x Rule" - Grant Cardone.

i'll look into war on art.

but forgive me for saying this, i feel like Grant Cardone is a fraud. good for him he managed to make money during difficult times and stuff, and makes money from lectures and books etc, but thats already like a piece of gum that already has lost its flavor. whatever he is doing good for him, just my opinion.

The Circle of Profit: How To Turn Your Passion Into $1 Million
by Anik Singal

i have read 15 books this year so far,

Only one that hs to do with IM really is "How Sucessful people think"

Yep, I "heard" the audiobook and had no idea who Cardone is or what he was about. I don't really care. It's entertaining to listen to when I drive to work and he makes some actionable points.

Other than interviews and other free stuff online, I don't think I'll be getting involved any further than that. It's not really that IM related, either.

I might add, some good copywriting books are definitely related to IM....

Do you like anti-inspirational books? :)

"How to win friends and influence people"
Must be a good book wrote by a vet/pro.
But in order to win/influence people, first need throw away books and trying to approach them.

"Relentless"
Wow, looks very like a horrible name at first glance.

Talent is Overrated by Geoff Colvin.

It describes how world-class performers gained their skills. Tiger woods, steve jobs, et cetera.

I haven't read this book, so thanks for putting it on my list.

I think that learning from the actions / behaviours of people who are / were super-successful is more beneficial towards becoming successful yourself than reading some generic, regurgitated, think-positive-and-the-universe-will-be-on-your-side crap.

Who / What would I rather learn from... Robert Kiyosaki, who's just trying to sell as many books / seminars / other marketing crap he's trying to make a quick buck from; or Bill Gates / Steve Jobs dissected, not directly from their mouths (even though they have given some advice that you can find on YouTube btw), but just how their general mindset works and how the decisions they made were thought out. Surely you can learn a lot more from that, than Kiyosaki trying to make you feel good enough about yourself so you feel motivated (enough to buy his next book).

Hmmmmmm... I'm not successful (yet), so maybe my opinion has no merit anyways... just writing out my thoughts.

Thanks
