You might be probably doing something wrong or it seems to me an ip issue. Maybe, its highly spammed or already used on AMF banned account before.
Before releasing 4.9 we have tested on multiple amf accounts for days. Till now we are running over 5 accounts and non of them having any issues at all.

Its windows based tool you can use it on mac through virtualbox or parallels desktop.
I don't know about the linux, but the cheap windows vps will do the job.
