Asking for / encouraging shares?

On twitter, I usually insert some text asking / encouraging retweets - and I get a lot of retweets.

Is that sort of thing acceptable on Facebook, or does it just look spammy & turn people off?

"Like & share for more" - or something like that after the description of what you're posting.

Same here, create a contest for sharing.

Try to have many rewards, not just one. This way you will encourage more people to just share without thinking.

That is a great way to get your FB accounts banned lol, FB explicitly forbids contests for shares, i got closed down fast last week for creating a contest like that

Don't know this, as I am not using Facebook much, but on the other hand, I have a friend who uses Facebook for his business and always runs share contests. His 'Like' page have been active for more than 4 years and never had any issues with its contests.

Yeah i did two contests for free tickets to a ballgame and both were shut down for the reason that a part of the contest was that they needed to share the contents (how else are you going to get some viral action going), sadly you can't ask them to share or to tag their friends in order to be in the contest... still thinking of ways around that shitpile
